My wife and I have frequented the Drake several times over the past few years. Never got into the food other then the nachos and similar bar snacks, but we sure had a good time during the karaoke night.
Great vibe!First stop durring our weekend in Canore.Stopped by for an afternoon appitizer and a beer.Enjoyed a sruffed prettzle. Came out so piping hot I almost burned my hand!Once safe to eat…pretty good.Live music later in evening. Locals all seem to to sing it’s praises as one of a handfull of truely late night part spots!
Stopped in for a snack and a drink. We ordered the wing and poutine. The service was great. Very fast. Great local pub. We really enjoyed the wings. They had live music starting at 10pm. Would come back again.
3.0 may be generous when focused solely on the food but what notches the Drake upward is the laid-back atmosphere, sunny deck and runaway nights. Again, if it’s just the food you may be better off elsewhere but it’s not as bad as all these other reviewers make out..
Surprisingly Good!. After a 14-hour drive to Canmore, my husband and I didn’t want to search for a restaurant to eat dinner. We were staying at The Drake so we had 10% discount on food, so we thought why not! We ordered the crispy chicken burger with a side of beef barley soup and the special of the night, chicken fajitas. The service was amazing and we got our food so quickly! We weren’t expecting that the food would have so much flavour. Every bite was delicious!
Careful not to get out of line in this place, I’ve heard of people getting super roughed up here by the bouncers, I’ve also seen a lot of people get kicked out of here for no reason. Let’s be clear, this isn’t where the locals go to have a good time.
The cheerfulness efficiency of the waitress couldn’t make up for the fact that several of our chicken wings were decidedly past their best before date and the cheese on the nachos had the consistency of melted plastic. It seemed like a fun place to hang out and drink. Maybe the thing to do is have dinner elsewhere and come here for a few pints of Rickard’s Red afterwards…
