Worst place i have visited. Went to the restaurant at 8pm got seated in 10 minutes. Waitress took our order quickly. Ordered appetizers and meals. Appetizer arrived an hour later. When we inquired about our meal she said kitchen is backed up and will try and get your meal out soon. 1 1/2 hours later nothing came out in the mean time tables around us got their food. Asked the waitress and she said another 10 to 15 minutes. Asked for the manager who never showed their face. After 2 hours we paid for our appetizers and walked out. Very Very poor. Do not waste your money.
Good place to eat, tastey fish. But if you get the Lobster Mac & Cheese, check to see if there is actually lobster in there because it is not made with real lobster. We asked what kind of lobster it was and we’re told that it was a mix of crab and lobster (not what’s on the menu). Mum is a cook so we knew that it was not true, it was definitely fake crab meat.
This place was a bit average and I doubt we would visit again. To begin with, there were out of a number of beers on the menu. And then they had also run out of a few of the food items. It wasn’t even that busy of a day. The dry ribs were good, but the main meals lacked a bit of taste.
The first time I came to The Wood last year it was delicious, yesterday…. not so good! I ordered the 3 mushroom steak which was $32 with the roasted potatoes. They must’ve got a new cook in the kitchen because the roasted potatoes used to be baby potatoes, now they’re like baked potato wedges and the steak… You’d think paying 32 bucks you’d get a decent piece of meat, not here. I had to send my first steak back after requesting medium rare and getting a medium cooked baseball sirloin… how do you over cook a baseball sirloin…! Then after waiting almost 10-15 minutes for my new one, my boyfriend was almost finished his dinner I finally got mine. Even with my new medium rare steak it was still almost dry on the exterior and I got the equivalent of 2 cut up mushrooms in my sauce! Normally in any other restaurant you would get some sort of comp or free dessert option, not here… not even a sorry for overcooking your steak. All in all I definitely won’t be going back here anytime soon, at least not for steak, I would rather make the trek to Banff and go to one of the many steakhouses they have.
Good bar food and good drinks. I had to order the Lobster Mac and Cheese only because it was on the menu. It was super fishy though and very rich, but good nonetheless. The boy ordered the BBQ sandwich which was super tasty as well. Best part was that it was open later in the evening for food than any other place in Canmore.
Waited 20 minutes in line and people who had waited at their table for 1h without service were leaving. We decided to leave… Saturday 7pm 28 degrees out and not enough waitresses…
We waited for 15 minutes for just the menu and another 15 minutes to order… The server looks a bit cold. Not sure why 5 of us could be ignored for quite a while… I feel sad. 🙁
