Food so poor. Like I know the owner quan pho he is a worker at Thai binh before. Iam a regular customer Thai binh, he try to make foodlike his boss. But no good at all. My family came there one time. Try bun Bo hue . The broth no taste and so salty . He put too much chili oil. Then we try the pork chop with rice. The rice so bad very hard and cold. The last food we order is bot chien. Not good at all. Can’t compare to Thai binh.
Ok bun bo hue. Stopped here for a quick lunch and ordered the bun bo hue. I have to compare it to Trang Tien’s bun bo hue since it’s my favorite place for this dish. The price is the same but there were less noodle and meats than Trang Tien. It was very spicy even for me and I like spicy food. Surprised to see they serve traditional veggies on the side. The broth was not as flavourful. Overall, it was alright. However, I’d order it less spicy and add more satay which is available on the table if needed.
Gotta order the right stuff – highly recommend. First thing I did when I walked in was ask for recommendations. This is what I got and thus we ordered them all. The joy of eating with big group that is also family.Bot Chien – fried rice flour cakes with egg – The portions are smaller now, but it still good. Have to say that ones from Thai Binh were better, but Thai Binh is no longer open.Com Suon – pork chop and rice – Very tasty. Would definitely recommend trying this. The texture of the rice was disappointing though. I hope that is just a one-time thing.Banh Canh Heo – thick tapioca flour noodles with Pork – Delicious broth and the texture of the noodles were really good. the deep fried onions really make the soup tasty.Bun Mang Goi Vit – duck salad and soup with vermicelli noodles – The duck salad was really delicious and refreshing. The soup and noodles were a little disappointing. Bun Bo Hue – Central Vietnamese noodle, spicy – it was mediocre – there are better places in Edmonton for this dish.
The Bot Chien is worth the visit on it’s own! Service was amazing and very accommodating, with the restaurant closing at 9pm and us being not from the city we strolled in at 8:50 pm and they still stayed in to cook and serve us after hours- the food was real good. Bot Chien (deep fried rice flour taters) were tasty and crisp and the Banh Canh (starch noodle soup) was full off flavour. Nice hardwood floors and leather high seat-backs makes this place a definite hidden gem in Edmonton.
Really surprised the ratings are so low for this place! Recently renovated and new chef. Should at least be over 75% for current quality and service.24 Jul, 2013It was Thai Binh before. Quan Pho is owned buy a guy from Thai Binh. Thay have Bot Chien (fried dough), Bun Bo Hue (spicy beef noodle soup), Com Suon (pork chop with broken rice). Very tasty. I can say they have the best Bun Bo Hue, Bot Chien and grilled pork chop with broken rice in town!
Good bot chien. Bot chien is good ! But they cut the portion size down 🙂 Service is rude Soups are very salty . Com tam dishes are good
It was somewhat mediocre, the soup though; the first soup I’ve had that is so oily. I had the Bun Bo Hue and the farther you get to the bottom the more oily it is, the price was alright, could be less.
