This place is amazing. I make sure to go here every time I visit Calgary from California. My favorites are the duck, noodle soup, and intestine. The quality is super high and the food isn’t saturated with preservatives in typical restaurants. One of the healthiest Chinese places I have ever eaten at. Food is great and service is warm and welcoming. Stop by for lunch and you won’t be disappointed!

I love this place. It’s like a hole in a wall but the owners are super friendly. My bf and I normally get the combination platter with a bowl of noodles. The platter comes with cuttlefish, soy duck and some other variety of sausages or intestines. Served with a side of fish sauce. Delicious!
Surprisingly good chinese food. I always tried to avoid chinese foods in general because of high MSG, greasy, and deep-fried method, etc. But Chong Fat is totally different: most served dishes were prepared the healthy way and low MSG, etc. That made this one of my favourite restaurants.
Very small and dirty restaurant. Food was terrible and the service wasn’t that great. Never go back.
Got to try their noodle soup with 4 kinds of meat ball. Eat the noodle soup with 4 different kinds of meatball every time. (Beef balls, fish balls, pork balls & squid balls.)
Dive. Chong Fat is one of those places were you walk by but never give a second thought to.After picking my parents up from the airport, we thought we would grab a bite to eat for lunch; since it was Thanksgiving longweekend, I didn’t think that Chinatown would be busy, and I was right, it wasn’t very busy (ample parking but you still had to pay). However, the same can’t be said about Chong Fat, it was busy, and the eatery isn’t very big to begin with.I got the impression that it is family run, and the decor is as bland as you can get. Since it wasn’t big to begin with, the tables are squished together.Despite being busy, the lady quickly asked us how many people, and pointed to a table in the far left hand corner. Menus were served promptly, and teas served after we ordered.I ordered the lunch special, $8.85 – pig stomach, pig tongue with rice and vegetables. I’ll give Chong Fat kudos, the lunch special is a good deal and they had some good choices, next time I’ll try the pig intestine.Being typical chinese, the vegetables was boiled icebeg lettuce with some soya sauce. I really enjoyed the stomach and tongue, it was the soya sauce kind, and I didn’t find it salty at all, it was just the right blend of seasoning and saltiness. I had a sample of my companions wonton and it was good – shrimp with abit of pork, albeit small. The soya sauce marinated chicken was ok, nothing spectacular though. We also ordered the green bean with beef fried noodles, it was so good. The beef was incredibly tender, and the sauce was XO.One downside is that food service was slow, I noticed in the kitchen that there was only one cook and one stove, and everything was cooked to order (good thing). I have no problems going back, service was decent – tea was refilled without being asked, despite the place being packed as our meal progressed.
