I have gone to this place with very large groups for special events. It is one of the few places downtown that allow you to book private rooms. The food is of average quality but the options are great! The hot pot is fun with lots of options. The duck is delicious! The owners are great people and very accommodating, unfortunately the staff has been somewhat rude to us in the past (confronting me for giving a 10% tip for sub-par service (with a small group) for example). I will of course be back despite these few and far between encounters.
Regency Palace is most busy around noon. Just like many dimsum places, food comes around through carts. Though, there is an option for you to order too which is nice. This location also offers buffet on the other side of the restaurant. The food is always fresh and hot and the service is great.
Had a horrible New Year’s day experience. Greeted by dishes on the table on which the dishwasher had obviously not done a good job. Opted for buffet, then found the bins empty and near empty. What was left was cold. Over 15 minutes before they were refilled. Took forever to get drinks order taken. Complained, was told that a party in their banquet room was making things too busy, as though that was our problem. Adding insult, the dirty pot of tea that was on the table when we arrived appeared on the bill even though we had not ordered it. On top of all this, the food was mostly terrible, overly salty, greasy and tasteless. At $20 per person was obscenely exorbitant. Am befuddled how this restaurant could have possibly earned any good reviews. Highly recommend you not just take a pass, but run the other way.
I go here almost every Sunday around 10-11am for dimsum with my family. Although the service isn’t the best at times I cannot deny that the food is delicious.
Had dim sum for lunch today at regency palace. Pretty good dim sum, getting pestered by people with trays is a bit too much at times. I don’t mind that service is bad but harassment for more dim sum kinda sucks.Over all food was ok but I do think there are tons of better places to go to in Calgary. Sticky rice was a bit plain, shrimp dumplings had a really thick wrapping. The pork buns did the job as tasted pretty good. The Sui mai was slightly on the harder side.
Great hot pot place with all the options. The Chinese buffet was a nice, unexpected bonus with some great options to choose from! Good selection of meats and vegetables for the hot pot, plus lots of steamed rice.
We enjoyed a great Dim Sum brunch today with my sons and a friend, the first time we’ve had Dim Sum in several years. Great shrimp dumplings, sticky rice, pork dumplings, egg tarts, and sesame balls with red bean paste.Service was very prompt, and a good selection.
