Not too shabby. I’m always in the mood to try a new food truck, so when Sticky Ricky’s showed up at work, I had to give it a whirl. This place offers up Louisiana style street food, and after perusing their menu I decided on the blackened catfish po boy. The lady behind the counter was very friendly, and she quickly took my order. It was on the pricey side, $11. Only after I placed my order did I realize that ‘blackened’ met spicy/heat, but I thought ‘what the hey’ and waited for my order. It didn’t take long for them to fulfill my order, and inside the box were 2 ‘mini’ po boys. I remember trying a shirmp po boy in New Orleans, and the bread they used in N.O. was nothing like the one I received. The one from Sticky Ricky’s resembled dinner rolls. However, after one bite it was sheer culinary delight. The ‘mayo’ then cole slaw, then the fish all were delicious. My fears that blackened would be super hot were quickly diminished as I felt the heat was at a very comfortable level – where you could eat the meal without grimacing in pain from the heat. One thing I should note is that catfish does have a more subtle flavour, so the rich tanginess from the ‘mayo’ and slaw overpowered the delicate taste of the fish.I’d definitely like to try the other items on Sticky Ricky’s menu. If the po boy was that good, I’m sure I won’t be disappointed with their other offerings.

Messy but delicious. Really good po’boy, though super messy to eat (not really great for street food, more like take-out & take home). Also super spicy (for my bland palate, so I wish I had a milk too…)

OMG the beans n rice is delicious. I didn’t think I would ever get this excited about beans and rice, and the corn bread it comes with might just be the best corn bread I’ve ever had in my life. Excellent service too, super efficient and more pleasant than some of the other food trucks in this city.

YOU HAVE TO TRY. I loved everything about this truck from the colorfulness of the outside, the amazing service and food to die for it’s a must try Calgary

  • Caprices Fine Arts

Caprice Summer Event. Sticky Ricky’s added to the festivities at the Caprice Fine Arts Summer Event June 1. They were there serving up their wonderful Creole/Cajun goodies. I had the best Red beans and rice with corn bread that I ever ate while others enjoyed their Po boy sandwiches, poutine, and the Ricky cookie. In addition to the great food was Victoria and her dad who were so charming and sweet. Fabulous food and fast, friendly service-what more could you ask for?
