  Such a cute idea!I took my sister here and we had a ton of fun customizing our ice creams.I got the matcha black sesame swirl with nutella spread, a couple pocky sticks, a graham bear, and rainbow sprinkles (because, whimsy). The flavours were delicious, and both of us loved the texture of the fish cone. Crispy on the outside but light and fluffy on the inside!It’s a tad pricey, but for such a unique product and fun experience, I’d say it’s worth it.

  To be honest the rating should be 3.5 but we enjoyed the dessert even after eating late lunch so its fair to round it up to 4 :)There are four soft serve ice cream flavours to choose from (matcha, vanilla, black sesame & panlanye), and they offer two swirl flavours (forgot the mix) too. I tried black sesame on taiyaki (Japanese fish shaped cake) with Nutella spread, and have pocky sticks as topping and Oreo sprinkles. I shared it with my boyfriend we both found the black sesame flavour quite bland. When we started to bite on the taiyaki with Nutella spread, were satisfied because itll never go wrong with that evil and delicious spread! Not much seating inside the shop so we took the bench just outside the shop front door (still within the little shopping mall). They provide water (soaked with fruits) for self serve. Staff is friendly and the shop looks clean too.

  Friendly and polite staff! Uzu Taiyaki is a pretty neat place to visit when youre in for something different than your regular ice cream cone or cup. They offer unique flavours as well. In the future, it would be cool to see more flavours on the menu though.

  Uzu Taiyaki is I believe the first Taiyaki ice cream place in Calgary. Taiyaki is japanese pastry which looks like Tai fish, and inside there is usually sweet red bean paste in it. At Uzu Taiyaki, they use the skin part of Taiyaki and put soft serve ice cream in it. First you pick if you wanna Taiyaki cone or cup, and pick ice cream flavor, spread, and toppings. They switch up the flavors monthly(or more or less) and they seem like have interesting Asian flavors. The best thing about them would be topping. They have huge selection of topping. And you can pick whatever you like and build your own. You also get to pick the spread goes on the cone part, I had red bean but it did not taste good. It was not sweet at all and very dry. Nutella was so much better. Ice cream isnt special. It is just ok. If I just wanna have some good soft serve ice cream, I wouldnt choose to come here. But the Taiyaki style is interesting to try.
