Purple Perk delivers decent diner food for a reasonable price. Got the Voodoo Burger which came with a lightly toasted bun, piles of melted Swiss cheese, blue cheese, and bacon. If there had been a little more blue cheese this burger would have kicked ass. Fries were great. I dig the tradeoff of a little self service for reasonable prices.
I love a neighbourhood coffee shop with a little character and sass! This place has great coffee (best soy Americano misto), plenty of interior seating, and a cute outdoor patio. Any of the sandwiches I’ve tried have been really good, and I love anywhere that has hot sauce readily accessible. The accompanying house chips are tasty too! Only lost a point because although the bathroom seemed quite clean, there was a pretty strong pee smell.
I’ve visited Purple Perk twice so far. First time I got the pot stickers and the second time I got the Benny with mushrooms. The potstickers and the sauce that came with it was great. The Benny had too much sour cream but aside from that it was great. Service could have been better and it is very difficult to have a conversation in there as the noise level is too very high. Aside from that everything else was fine and I’ve heard their cakes are great. Maybe they could start selling fresh squeezed orange juice instead of selling Simply Juice.First visit: Jan 2017Second Visit: June 2017
This is a great coffee shop along 4th. As you can see in the pictures, their desserts are enormous, and delicious! They make some pretty good coffee too. We’ve been a few times and are bound to go again.
Popular cafe in mission area with huge sized pastries!Pro: decent price, big size pastriesCon: food, not enough place to sitI have visited this cafe more than a few times and I love it here! The best part about me is their pastries. It’s all HUGE! Especially their cake is all pretty huge, it entertains my eyes! The taste of those pastries are pretty average, if you’d like actually decent pastries, there is great pastry shop a block away so I recommend you to go there instead lol. I think their florentines are decent. It’s really thick so maybe not traditional style but it goes ok with coffee.Their coffee is reasonable price and latte menu is a lot to chose from. Tea leaves they have boxes out for you to pick, it’s very casual and easy style, I think. The atmosphere of this cafe, it’s very casual, very relaxing, surrounded by some art on the wall. I feel like always 1/3 of people are facing laptop and working on something. I do like that atmosphere a lot, but I see there is always someone waiting for seats. It’s either they do not have enough seats or those PC working people dominate the big table and stay for long time. I do not mind but I feel bad for those people who cannot be seated so I usually ended up rushing(and cannot finish the cake!). I like their espresso, it is very deep and bold. Sometimes I do not like acid in my espresso, I liked the one in here. Overall, I definitely recommend you to go!
Had heard so much about a place – what that does is create an expectation and when it (the place) falls short of lofty expectations – it’s disappointing to the point where this visit will be the first and the last one for sure.Ordered Cake, Hot Chocolate ($3.90) and small Latte ($3.90) the slice of chocolate cake ($7.95 for a slice) is definitely a store cake and saw preparing them hot chocolate with Nesquik Chocolate Syrup and jug of chocolate milk that one buys from superstore. This is not one expects when we pay premium monies for just mass production products. Cake is made to mimic Cheesecake Factory (USA) style – it definitely matches it in price but absolute sub par quality. In addition to quality, the cake fridge has tons of cake creams shaved enough to feed army of ants and not so welcome guests for leftover food causing mold.Good thing about cafe is its location – that’s about it!No stars for ambience, cleanliness, quality or price point but five stars for location.
Maybe i’m not cool enough, or hipster enough to understand what the hype of this place is. It’s always quite busy, but the drinks and food are quite mediocre. it’s the trendy coffee shop in Mission. I’ve gone here over 10 times, and have always been disappointed.
