We came here to try their dinner buffet and we were delighted to have a fine variety of dishes covering everything from appetizers like papadum, samosas, salads to wonderful hot dishes including tandoori chicken and goat curry. Fresh naan was brought to our table and desserts were tasty and service for drinks and dirty dishes was spot on.
Went there last night for a friends birthday. We decided to eat at the buffet and BIG MISTAKE. Food was boring and tasteless. All the sauces tasted like they came from jars. The buffet was so gross my friend had to order from the menu which was also gross. I feel really bad because it was his birthday and the evening was ruined because of the awful food. Also I am writing this review from the toilet because I got very sick from eating here. Very disappointed.
Excellent selection of both meat and vegetarian dishes from the buffet…definitely something delicious for every palate. This establishment also serves several desserts to finish on a sweet note. Overall great value, attentive staff (continuously clearing dishes and refilling water) along with a very nice decor puts this restaurant easily in my top five of fine east Indian restaurants in Calgary. If you’re thinking of Indian food you will not be disappointed here.
Delicious buffet with fresh naan! Watching the chef put naan into the tandoori oven and take it out a moment later and have it brought straight to your table is just awesome. Lots of great options and not always the same items on the buffet.
So far my favourite Indian place in Calgary. I can’t bring myself to order off menus at Indian places because I can never narrow it down to a couple of things. That relegates me to buffets. Rajdoot always has Tandoori chicken on the buffet, and it’s actuslly cooked in a tandoor! Always have channa masala too. They often have the eggplant dish I love, and samosas and naan are included in the buffet. It’s a bit pricier than some places I’ve been to, but you get what you pay for. I gladly pay for Rajdoot’s buffet because of the great selection and better quality of food.
The lunch buffet is great. The butter chicken and the beef they serve is actually good. The samosas are great too. For a buffet, there’s actually a wide variety of good items to choose from. Service is friendly as well. This is definitely one of the better Indian restaurants in town.
Rajdoot is a fine place to get some good Indian food. For dinner you can choose either the buffet or ordering from the menu. Having done both, the value you get from the buffet is great! There are a lot of choices in the curries and everything is pretty good quality. For anyone who has not tried a lot of Indian food – this is a great introduction. The most recent time I went to Rajdoot – my boyfriend and I split a few curries. We started with the veg samosas and they were okay…I felt like they were a little doughy but the spices inside were great. The Allu Gobi is very tasty – very flavorful sauce and tons of cauliflower and potato. The butter chicken was okay – better than the buffet but it seemed to have a very tomatoy taste and not as much spice as I am used to – Rajdoot does use big chunks of chicken breast which is a huge plus. We also had the goat curry that was probably my favorite of the dishes. It was very tender and you get a lot of meat in your order. Lastly we had the Kofta – the vegetable patties were just okay in these but the gravy was very tasty for dipping Naan!Overall Rajdoot is a good place for pretty good Indian food. The decor is very cute amd they have a massive selection of dishes! I’ll likely come back if I have a hankering for curry but I would not go out of my way to seek it out.
