The roof top patio is one of the best in the city. Great food, fantastic wine. The staff are top notch when it comes to wine suggestions and the pairings for food. They have recently changed their Happy Hour options, great selection of food and wines. Happy Hour starts again after nine if you have been to a movie or the theatre and want to stop on the way home.

I had a fantastic experience booking a group dinner at the Vin Room in Mission. The group menu choices were delicious and very well priced. The Wine tasting and atmosphere in the downstairs Cellar was a fabulous way to celebrate with a group. Alan was very great to work with to prepare for the event and they were very accommodating with last minute changes.

Had dinner and wine here last night and it was AMAZING!! Every dish was even better than expected – we had the croquettes, scallops, flat iron steak, and duck breast. I’d go back for all of it again! The staff were very attentive (without being too much) and always made sure our glasses were topped up. We lingered over wine and never felt rushed out like some other places do, even though every table was full. Top notch Vin Room!.

I didn’t mind Vin Room. It’s a decent place for wine lovers or to go on a date to a place that’s quiet and well designed and furnished. The tapas were good and the wine selection is great. Don’t come here super hungry though, this place isn’t designed for you to walk out full with your top button open. But you will walk out slightly buzzed and satisfied.

The food here is great. The must try dish from Vin Room are the scallops (wish the serving was larger). Although the waiter messed up order, I was really impressed with the knowledge he had about their cheeses and wines. Be prepared to spend a good amount of cash on your meal.

If duck is on the Vin Room’s menu, get the duck. The duck we were served was absolutely amazing. Cooked to perfection, it had a nice fatty skin with the juiciest pink duck meat I’ve ever had. Lean, but with enough fatty juices inside, the dish was full of flavour.I sat down to a private five-course meal ($125 with wine pairings) and Vin Room did not disappoint. I don’t think it’s ever disappointed me in my visits, which makes me a question why I don’t come here often enough. Everything was pretty spectacular. The Flatiron steak was medium-rare, it had so many juices flowing off of it with each cut. Mixed with the sauteed mushrooms and other savoury vegetables, this was definitely a crowd-pleaser. The meal also started with a Paella Arrancini which was a very unique take on two culturally different rice dishes. The crunchy rice ball with the warm and soft paella rice inside with a bit of shrimp was instantly gone in a few bites.I’d recommend Vin Room for a fancy dinner without a second thought. Especially if you enjoy wine. There’s plenty of selection and with our set-course meal, they paired their food well with their drink. It’s a great experience. If you go as a big group, there’s a basement private dining room you can access. Honestly, great place to have dinner party, especially with professional servers.

On the positive side, the wine selection is really good and the food just as excellent.I really love the cheese they offer, and they always know how to make the best pairing. On the negative side though, I’ve never felt like I was in a higher scale establishment despite the higher prices (even the suggested tips start at 20%) which is a bit of a let down. The patio on the roof is fairly nice, so I still go once in a while – just not the right balance between experience/cost. foodieinyyc.com
