First timer and found the food of good quality although pricey but enjoyable. Sampled the brew and not my beer choice thus I’m not into overpriced beer called Craft Beer. To each there own although great for Cochrane and I wish the family ownership all the best.
We really enjoyed our first visit! We enjoyed the meal and service was great!Needless to say we were pretty excited to give it another try, this time with friends.Our second trip was lack luster at best. Service wasn’t that great & neither was the food. We had 3 plates of overcooked food. All I could taste on the chicken was char. Bleh.Now I understand there are good days and bad days for everyone. With that in mind I try to be forgiving. However, I am conflicted as to if I will return. The first visit had me recommending away. What a treat! The second left me with a bad taste in my mouth…literally!I don’t mind paying top dollar for food if it is worth it. I do mind paying top dollar to gamble with my food and experience.To be continued……
We came here for lunch and it was a windy day, so I did not get to sit in their nice patio. But we ordered a very good lunch. I ordered their Chicharon which was served warm and perfectly spiced…Addictive! I then ordered the 1881 Burger served with bacon jam! (Need I say more?) My friend ordered a Caesar salad and this version was good served with fried capers! Fried Capers!! We also ordered Mac N’ Cheese. Which was good but we felt the cheese was lacking, which I feel most restaurants do. I also ordered on tap their craft beer Fire N’ Fury Red Ale, which was a very nice clean beer. Overall the experience was great the wait staff was awesome! The establishment was cozy and a great gathering place. I must try!Re-visit Aug 26/17Again, we came here for lunch today, the food was great, i visited here last time and it was awesome! Today i came here with 2 friends and i had the kettle chips with onion dip, chicharron and pork belly tacos with a side caesar salad and a drink The Glamper (no lemon is served with it). The pork belly was great but the slaw that was served with it was a little to tart and i always feel pork bellies are always well served with a little sweetness then tart.My friends had the flatbread with cheese which was great and filling and the Cochrane Club with onion rings which he said was delicious and satisfying. My other friend ordered the tater tots version nachos/poutine that specific dish was really salty, i dont think it was the gravy but maybe salt was added to the tater tots? It was so salty we had to send it back (They took it off our bill as well). The soup tomato basil was great and the caesar salad was as always great with the fried capers. However on my side order of the caesar with my tacos there were no fried capers (may of forgotten it) i was disappointed, but my friend was kind enough to share hers with me. Their menu has changed but their website has not been updated. So you should check out their new menu. Have to try The Glamper! Today i will give them 3.5/4 last time a 4/5. The dinning area today had alot more flies flying around, which was annoying. Again great service!
Enjoyed this restaurant very much. Ceasar drinks were delightful. Had the 1881 burger and fries with side of gravy so yummy. My friend had the chicken and waffles and said it was soon good. Highly recommend checking it out and I’ll be here again.
Excellent beer. I particularly enjoyed the cask beer which happens on Thursdays nights. Our food was fantastic and had very generous portions. The patio has a great view. The staff were friendly and the service was great. Definitely a recommend!
Cute place, great beer….food could use some help. The menu was interesting enough that I’d like to come back again to give it another try.
Good beer, good fresh food. Service is hit and miss some of the male servers are a bit weird and may be in need of a personality transplant. I am sure this will improve over time. Needs more tv’s for Stanley Cup playoffs or it will be deserted at least for the first round.
