Alright, Chinese Asian mini mall; consists of a market, stationery store and other miscellaneous shops all bunched into this 2 level building. Just like any typical Cantonese seafood restaurant, Central Grand serves dim sum in the day and changes to an a la carte situation in the evening for dinner. Located on the upper level of this mall, just like the building itself – the space needs a total facelift. Looking beyond the dreaded and dated exterior and the equally eyesoring mess of the interior, food was also a letdown. Overly salty, and greasy so sum it up, says something when I dont come out of a meal with even one picture. The one positive is that they do have a few more unique dim sum items that I typically dont see anywhere else. (More squid and duck feet options if you’re into that) Service was mediocre, constantly had to wave someone down to get a refill for our tea and water. They were quick to take away empty plates and the carts were coming consistently in a timely manner as well. All the dishes that were also coming out were hot and fresh too. Prices here compared to our usual dim sum spot is slightly cheaper but with the food barely meeting expectations, Id say it isnt worth it. Pass.
Decent dim sum restaurant located just off centre st and 16 ave. The restaurant is on the second floor of the mall and offers dim sum via carts. The food was hot and came by frequently on carts. 10:50 or 11:00 seemed to be the optimal hour.
My family and I ate here for Chinese New Year and we had their 10-course special and I’d say the food was pretty good overall. However, I wish the plates were timed better, because everything came out at the same time and by the time you finished a bowl, the other things were cold.
Great Food but with awful services especially the owner of the restaurant. He is only with manner when you are not Chinese or VIP guests. Today I went there to meet my uncle for lunch and when I inquire where is the seat for my uncle’s reservation. He very rude to tell me they don’t have the reservation for him. So, I have to call my uncle to see where he sit. During the lunch, he was come by and at that moment his changed his attitude to a person with good manner. If not because of my uncle I will definitely no choose this restaurant for dining out.
I don’t know why ppl like this resturant. The dim sum is mediocre and left a wierd taste.. maybe it was all t h e msg. I hated the last 3 times I was there and was stuck going there again.. mot by my choice. I also find it disturbing to have 5 waiters staring at you while u eat with their arms crossed. Annoying expensive and nasty tasting. t h e dim sum doesn’t taste good and is pricy.
Went today around 11:30am, given a table right away. Sat for 10-15 minutes, got up and left. No carts going by, so no food available. Went to Regency in Chinatown to get some food.
Had great food, only complaint was the bowls were not washed too well and the ribs were a bit salty. The dim sum I had was fantastic and I would go there again.
