This is our Christmas Eve Brunch tradition spot! Every year we go and have an amazing breakfast before the insanity of the holidays sets in. This year I had the Quinoa pancakes and trust me they do not taste anything like quinoa! And completely skip the syrup and slather them up with their homemade jam! Yum!! The staff is always friendly even when they are super busy and the place is cramped. I do not recommend ordering more then one pancake as they are huge and extremely filling. But its always good with a side of bacon!
The inconsistency of this place is prob what bothers me the most. Some days it’s a delightful breakfast and others it’s just…. ok. The atmosphere here however is something everyone can enjoy and with a central location, accessible most the time.
Pretty typical diner fare but at non-diner prices. The interior is definitely very cool, and I love how eclectic and retro-inspired everything is. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. I decided to try the Kansas City Pulled Pork ($16) with a side of maple baked beans, and my friends got the Garden Burger with salad ($15, add $1 for the salad), and the Brisket Sirloin Burger with fries ($15, add $2 for bacon). My pulled pork was actually quite good – the meat was tender and flavourful and slathered with a sweet bbq sauce, and I really like the caramelized apple relish it came with. The burger had a nice flavour and texture, but was a tiny bit too salty. The garden burger was good, but not terribly interesting. All came on a brioche bun – pretty good, but a little dry. The baked beans were pretty good, but not great – slightly better than canned – and I’m pretty sure the fries were just McCain Superfries. My friend enjoyed her salad enough but wasn’t a fan of the tomato-cranberry combination. Overall, it was a hearty, decently tasty meal, but slightly underwhelming. When I’m in the mood for diner food I’ll probably head to Blue Star or Dairy Lane instead, but I’d still be curious to try Diner Deluxe’s breakfast offerings.
Love coming here for breakfast or brunch. It’s a close second to OEB. I enjoy their breakfast poutine, and I usually add bacon and extra cheese curds to it. It’s a pretty yummy and quite filling. I’ve also had their breakfast burritos and Benedict. I hVe never had anything I did not like. Coffee is great and service is always friendly and efficient.
Loved the food and the service. Tried the mascarpone French toast with the chicken sausage patty that they made special because their chicken sausage had a pork casing – thanks to our amazing server for her recommendations and help.
Located just down Edmonton Trail from OEB Breakfast Co, a veritable Restaurant Row during the days early hours, Diner Deluxe is an all-day eatery focused on local, seasonal ingredients and scratch-cooking, the kitschy retro interior in no way indicative of the sort of place serving up your Grandpas plate of Bacon and Eggs. Now with two locations, the rumor of hour-long waits on weekends mitigated by an early Monday meal, entry to Diner Deluxe finds patrons in a Soda Fountain styled area featuring Gelato, Pac-Man, the brightly lit room beyond full of old-school signage and smiling servers plus two men working the oven and griddles.Proudly promoting local purveyors and farms, prices slightly higher than the typical diner as a result, long perusal finds the menu filled with options for diners of all-styles, the challenge of accommodating allergies and limitations taken quite seriously as the young woman acting as waitress went out of her way to inquire at the time of order, something far more typical of fine-dining environs.Seated at a cozy two-top next to an elderly widower in the mood for conversation, clearly a regular judged by his interaction with staff, Breakfast began with an elegantly presented square of pan-seared Oats thoroughly soaked in Custard and Maple Syrup, the pool of Crme Anglaise in which it rested acting to further soften the wedge beneath a scoop of zesty Lemon Curd.Offering bottomless Coffee from Phil & Sebastian, a local producer featuring great light roasts at many restaurants visited during the days in Alberta, course two featured egg-dredged Sourdough wrapped around melted Brie, Canadian Bacon and Apple Relish, the sidecar of Rosemary Syrup proving downright inspired as an addition to the sandwich, while also proving complimentary to the $3CAD upgraded side of well-seasoned Hash Browns that remained crispy even with the addition of housemade Hollandaise and stretchy Cheese Curds.Half-joking when inquiring about dessert, but more than happy to indulge when the kitchen said they would be willing to oblige, it was after a quick warming on the grill that an Apple Pie Wedge arrived bathed in hot Caramel Sauce, the light hints of booze mingling with Cinnamon and Fruit topped in buttery Streusel. endoedibles.com
Super busy, but very delicious eggs benedict! Service is always friendly and food is prepared quite fast, definitely a popular breakfast joint
