If you’re ever in the NW definitely try out Bobby Chao’s. We came here for dim sum and was impressed by the variety of items they had to offer. We ordered the 1) Bobby Chao Peanut Dumplings (generous filling of meat and peanuts). With the peanut dumplings you can really taste the essence of the peanuts. 2) Seafood dumplings (unique wrapping presentation with a good balance of scallops and shrimp). The seafood dumplings were saucy with lots of scallop. 3)The deep fried shrimp wontons (heavy filling of shrimp and the wontons had a golden look). These golden wontons had a nice crunch biting into it and flavor was good. 4) The beef tripe (good mix of scallions, tripe and ginger). The beef tripe was probably my least favorite as it didn’t taste as fresh. 5) The bbq crepe (thicker crepe but chunks of bbq pork meat). They have a separate kitchen where they marinate the bbq pork asian style so you know it’s fresh. The dishes here are around $6 to $8 per dish but the quality and taste is worth the price paid. Now after being this full I’ll probably pass out.
Can never say no to Bobby Chaos! I live in Lebanon and trust me, I crave it but cant fulfill my craving, its real torture for foodies! Their Pho soup is the best! Hits the spot! And the duck is delicious, glazed, sweet and fatty. I enjoyed everything I had there. Im happy they are expanding and wish them even more success.
Went to Bobby Chaos for dim sum on a Friday afternoon. It’s been so long since we’ve been here and was pleasantly surprised that it has been renovated. The restaurant is bright, modern and clean inside. We were greeted immediately by a waitress who pointed to a table and arrived shortly to wipe it while apologizing that it wasn’t clean (which was understandable as the restaurant was full). She asked us for our tea order and made small chat about being off for work during the holidays. Within a minute, another waitress showed up to ask for our tea order as she set the table. This same waitress could be overhead awhile later asking the kitchen why no dishes had come out for our table. It might not seem like a big hing, but this service at a Chinese restaurant doesn’t always happen and should he acknowledged. Rice pot w preserved meats $7.99-includes two kinds of Chinese sausage, duck, pork belly and vegetables. You receive a side of soy sauce which you drizzle over. While the rice wasn’t cooked in the pot (I miss the crusty pieces of rice against a clay pot), the rice still had subtle flavors of meat and it was also a good portion.Steamed beef balls $5.75- soft and moist- 3 beef balls Steamed spareribs in black bean sauce $5.25Seafood dumplings w XO Sauce $5.99- 3 large dumplings with big pieces of shrimp inside – no XO taste though
10/11/17** I’ve been back a couple more times and unfortunately haven’t been very impressed with dishes like the palace style chicken, shanghai noodles, spring rolls, grilled pork dumplings, scallion pancakes, or ma po tofu, so I’m lowering my rating from a 4 to a 3. ** After passing Bobby Chao’s countless times, I finally decided to try it – and I’m certainly glad I did! For a restaurant in a suburban strip mall, I was surprised with how nice the interior was. The restaurant was packed when we arrived, but despite that our food arrived quickly, and service was consistently friendly and helpful throughout the evening. We tried C92. Lemon Chicken ($14.50), C118. Honey Sauce BBQ Pork ($13.99), C196. Singapore Style Stir Fried Rice Vermicelli ($12.99), and C11. Deep Fried Mini Bun ($6.95). All the portions were absolutely massive! The lemon chicken was beautifully crisp and the chicken was meltingly tender. The BBQ pork was very flavourful and tender as well. The Singapore noodles were very tasty too, but I do prefer when they have a bit more curry. The deep fried mini buns were nicely fried, and very addictive when paired with the sweetened condensed milk sauce. I’m looking forward to trying more of their menu!
I always eat here. Last weekend I called for a pick up. No chopsticks, no napkin, no folks, no spoons, and NO SUGAR for my milk tea although I re-confirm with the lady when I was paying and she said yes. Meh, I’ll go to other restaurants for freshness.
Came here again after half a year. It was lunch time and it was chaotic. The lady at the front was rude. I waited for half an hour for a beef fried rice take out. It’s extremely pricey at almost $12. Will be going back to ginger beef Brentwood next time.
Pretty good place for dim sum & dinner. One of the best dishes is the braised duck with taro. Make sure you call in advance for the dish. I find that the dishes are seasoned just right. Will definitely come back again.
