How did we not try this place sooner??After working like crazy to clean and move heavy furniture in my livingroom (on my birthday no less) while my other half worked the Calgary Comic Expo all day, neither of us were interested in cooking that night so when a friend of ours said he loved this place we thought we’d finally give it a try. It’s right down the street so why we didn’t go sooner I have no idea….It’s a busy sushi shop that is a lot bigger than it looks from the outside. Clean, bright, and they give you menus and a pad so you can write down what you want. I tried their negitoro roll, a philadelphia roll (cheating for my current diet but it was my birthday so meh), the chicken karaage, a hot california roll, split a shrimp tempura and an onion rings, and split I think the tiger roll, because it had unagi on top and wasn’t the golden dragon one (D ate the head on that, it was so cute)!I wish their salmon was wild, not farmed, but it was fresh and didn’t have the usual tasteless-farmed-salmon taste/texture to it so at least it was quality stuff. The tuna was delicious, and the tempura onion rings are now a favourite… I definitely look forward to trying more of their menu once our crazy diet is over!

Environment:We got the restaurant when it just opened. There were no too many people there yet. Inside the restaurant was nice and clean. We got the table very fast. As we sat down, our server brought the menu to the table and began to serve the drink.Service:Our table server is an Asian guy. He was very nice and friendly. He took the order very fast and also brought a teapot for us for the extra water.Food:We have ordered three special rolls, such as Golden Dragon Roll (8pcs), Jay-Mak Roll (8pcs), and spicy crunch rolls (8pcs). Besides that, we also ordered Ikayaki and special tataki 6pcs. Our food came out kitchen very fast. They were all fresh and well-cooked. We did a great job to order those special rolls. The spicy crunch roll is 8 pcs, which made by tobiko, cucumber, squid legs, spicy crisp, and volcano sauce. The Jay-Mak Roll is one of my favourite rolls. It made by spicy salmon, lettuce, avocado, crispy wonton, and unagi sauce. Unagi Sauce is super tasty. I love it. Golden Dragon Roll has shrimp tempura, unagi, cucumber, cream cheese, spicy crisp, unagi sauce, and hot sauce. Although all the special rolls have hot and spicy sauce on, the taste of the rolls are not spicy at all. They were all tasty. We loved the food so much.Prices:The prices of the rolls and dishes at Kinjo are little bit of expensive. I believe it was totally worth the prices. In summary, we enjoyed our 2nd time experiences at Kinjo. We should definitely come back to this location again. food.belindajin.com

I love this place! Food is delicious everything you order is so fresh, the yam rolls are my favorite! You get a pocky to go! If you go on the special days you can watch them break down a full tuna. Great fun!

Lots of options for sushi at Kinjo. Major bonus points for being open Sunday lunch! Really enjoyed the red tuna – they had a carving event earlier so had copious amounts of red tuna on special. It was absolutely melt in your mouth delicious. The other sushi left something to be desired. Tried several rolls including the crunchy roll, and they were fine. Salmon nigiri was very inconsistent. Some pieces were fresh and well cut, others were tough and grisly. The atmosphere at Kinjo is relaxed, yet fun. Free pocky is a plus!

1.5 because of the atmosphere, which was pleasant and modern. That was the only positive. I don’t know if it was an off day, but everything was really disappointing, especially in contrast to the wonderful lunch I had at the location on MacLeod last week. None of the sashimi tasted fresh, all the rolls were soggy and crumbly, and our beef tataki was super bland. Our server was very nice but very slow. Overall it just seemed like they were slammed and completely unprepared for it, which I can understand. But the quality most people expect from Kinjo was not there, at all.

Went here for dinner on a Friday night. The waiter didn’t refill my drinks until we were about to leave. The sushi rolls weren’t wrapped tight enough. They offered a few free sushi rolls but they were not prepared well. Sashimi was good though.

I tried the wagyu beef sushi and shrimp tempura and it was delicious! Especially the sauce on the meat! The texture is right, its cooked well done. Prices are alright, service is exceptional, and last but not least, the delivery is fast! Bringing my friends here in my next visit!
