Pleasant atmosphere in this small restaurant in little Italy. Decor is red, white and black with quiet music playing in the background. Calamari baked in tomato sauce is fabulous. Perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Chicken ziti is with mushrooms and sun dried tomatoes is average. Lasagna is a huge portion served layered with an unexpected deep roasted tomato flavor. And the service was great
The restaurant is a bit cramped but the service and food was top notch. The pasta is better than cafe amore or Sicilian pasta kitchen IMHO. These are just words to reach the character requirement.
Great Food. Had the Penne La Diavalo for lunch.. it was excellent. Large portion and cooked to perfectionWill def be back
Wonderful Surprise!. Allegro is one of those wonderful surprises that you can’t get enough of. Great ambience and great food. The restaurant is small and familiar. Call for reservations so you aren’t disappointed!
First and Last. Service could not have been any slower, usually I am not concerned about slow service, but it took 20 minutes to get a waitress she took our drink order (she took the order for half the table ignored the other half). The drinks took another 20 minutes and then she took the order for the other half of the table (party of 10) and they had to wait for their drinks.I usually don’t worry about slow service I go for the food but that was way to slow as far as the food goes it was over priced but I was warned before I went. Food was just average nothing really special aithough i did enjoy my caesar salad it was quite good but not enough to bring me back.
Not terrible but I’ve definitely had better Italian food for much cheaper… One piece of my gnocchi was not cooked at all, just a mouthful of potato and flour… Yuck. After the meal while leaving the washroom I caught a glimpse into the not so hidden storage room and saw the boxes of lasagna noodles that were bought at Safeway, and the packages of gnocchi and tortellini that looked like they were in Olivieri packaging. That’s when I really felt that food was over priced. When I can get a tastier meal at another Italian restaurant where they actually make the noodles and sauce themselves for about 5 bucks cheaper than at allegro where they buy noodles I could purchase myself, there’s something wrong. Needless to say, I will not be rushing back.
Great food and fantastic service. Very accommodating for gluten free customers!
