A group of people went here the last time they were at the Cross Cancer, and by and large everyone enjoyed their food. It was novel enough to be a talking point, and most felt it was sufficient in quantity. Like almost all Edmonton food trucks they seem to have problems understanding that they are by nature fast food, and I recall having to wait almost half an hour for my food.

Friday afternoon and I had the whole city to explore, why not enjoy the sun around downtown and grab grub from food trucks! This was not the first time visiting Attila, though my encounters have basically only been during Taste Of Edmonton, where I met the legendary duck tots. Today, with an empty stomach, I had my chance to try the burgers! We got to Churchill at around 1:50 didn’t sit down to eat until 220; quite a bit of a wait but we came with a lunch crowd so it was expected. Service was quick, the girl taking orders was thanking everyone and apologizing for the wait with every order going out, Which I thought was really sweet. We had the Buddha burger, peacemaker burger and of course an order of duck tots. The tots did not dissappoint;with the siracha giving a nice kick, complimenting very well with the sweeter sauce. Peanuts giving every bite an extra crispy crunch. omg..the Buddha burger;a fried egg, hash brown and a juicy patty. The egg yolk was still runny which gave the asian mustard aioli sauce a creamier taste—which was bomb btw. If you haven’t already, this needs to be on your list of must eats this summer. The food is lovely and prices worth it.

very delicious fare indeed, and the nice thing about attila the hungry is that it still holds true to the thing that made us fall in love with food trucks in the first place: unique food. it seems that food trucks serving sandwiches and pulled pork are now a dime a dozen, but the point of food trucks when they first hit the scene was that their lower entry and operating costs meant that chefs could get weird with it. Attila the hungry offers Thai flavors coupled with North American standbys such as tater tots and the good ol’ all American Burger. They pull off this fusion almost seamlessly, would would think that burgers and tots were native to Thailand. I do have a grievance with the prices though, the ducktots especially. you pay $12 for a small tray of this delicious mess, but the duck, which would be the only justification for the price, is more of a garnish than a full component of the dish. the wonderfully browned meat is flaked on so gingerly that the first time I ordered the dish I thought it was a mistake. mostly what you pay for is the tater tots, which we all know is generally quite affordable fare. I’d like to know what their profit margins on the ducktots are because I imagine they are very generous. despite that though, the hungry is a great foodtruck that is in the foodtuck game for the right reasons, to make good and interesting food.

Hey food truck, where’s the duck?. I spent $12 on the duck and tots today, and was so disappointed. I thought the tater tots might be a gourmand’s re-imagining of the classic tater tot, but no, these were just your plain old fried from frozen tater tots. And there were, like, 50 of them so it was this massive stodgy calorie bomb of a meal. As for the duck, there wasn’t much of it. Just a little bit of shredded meat on top of my mountain of tater tots. Reducing the number of tater tots, increasing the amount of duck, adding some greens and something crunchy and bright would have rounded out the meal, and made it somewhat healthy.

We Finally Meet!! :-). We went to the farmer’s market this weekend and who did we stumble upon, but Attila The HUNgry!!And a tasty feast for the eyes and stomach they served up too! I absolutely had to try the Duck Tots (like come on…nothing like that to make your skirt fly up!)….and my hubby tried the Big Buddha Burger, sans cabbage and dressings. We got…..We savoured! The Duck Tots had so many flavours going on and textures and it was quite the delight! I didn’t try my hubby’s burger because I was too busy stuffing myself, but he enjoyed it very much. Side note,….the Duck Tots are a big serving and could probably feed two….very good value for your buck! Great menu and delicious, well constructed food,…which we highly recommend!!

Just Ok. We ate here because the line up was shorter than the other truck and we were in a rush. Hubby got the burger, he like it but it was nothing special. I had the special – chicken salad sandwich – and I quite liked the addition of green apple. I won’t go out of my way to eat here again, but next time I need a quick lunch downtown I would consider it.
