Dinner at Central Social Hall tonight for us. We step in to this Gastro pub and immediately I feel like we should leave. This is a very loud pub. So loud that we are yelling at each other to pick a table at the door. We choose a booth off to the side hoping we can have a conversation when we sit down. Waitress arrives a few moments later with menus and asks us if we would like something to drink. We ask her to give us a few moments. After looking at the drink menu we see that they do have three pages of on tap beers. Waitress returns and we order draft and ask if they can make a Vesper. Waitress tells us yes. Drinks arrive, draft is a glass of beer. Vesper arrives with three small olives and no lemon. After tasting it it is no vesper it is a gin martini and not cold. Waitress returns to take our food order. We order Serrano lime chicken nachos to share, a jasper chicken sandwich and cheddar bacon burger. We repeat our order several times for her to hear it. This place is loud! Serrano chicken nachos come out first. They are a large dinner plate sized portion with shredded chicken and beans on top, a few jalapeos, oriental cut green onions and two sauces drizzled on top one green one red. We order guacamole and sour cream for dipping. Chips appear to not be from a bag but unfortunately they are lacking flavor and salt. The lack of flavor continues throughout the nachos, chicken , pico de gallo and the guacamole. We ask for salt to help them out. We also find a huge piece of avocado in our guacamole serving. Sandwich and burger arrive before we are done our nachos. Waitress asks us twice if we would like another martini THIS PLACE IS TOO LOUD. We decline. Burger is big with cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, patty and bun, served with a large bowl serving of yam fries. Unfortunately burger is also lacking in flavor. Jasper chicken sandwich has same size portion of yam fries served with a disappointing and lacking flavor with white cream dip. Sandwich has over peppered chicken, minimal cranberry compote, dried out Brie cheese ( not creamy at all its crunchy) all on a cabatte bun. Very disappointing. Waitress does not return until we are done our meal. We both leave most of the fries and I leave most of my sandwich. Waitress asks if we are done and if she can box our orders. We decline. The atmosphere is wood, industrial lighting and boar statues. The service was poor and our food was disappointing. We had to sit right next to each other and yell to hear each other speak. They may have drink specials of $2.75 and $4.00 other days and times of the week but we will not be back to try.

Owner is complete ignorant man. I will never attend central again. i have gone every weekend for some time now but i will take my business elsewhere. Owner likes to yell in customers faces. Ridiculous

You should be going there for beers and a night out, not eating the food. If you are looking to eat go to anywhere else: moxies, Earls, brewpub. There are just too many other choices.

Had the steak sandwich lunch special, it had obviously been pre-cooked and the reheated so it really wasnt that great, it was ok but disappointing. Soup was outstanding, would not get the lunch special again

New Patio opening you say!? Oh ya, Ill be there!Central Social Hall had some obstacles to work with being that the restaurant backs onto a big hill, so I was definitely curious to see what they would be able to do for the Patio. It turned out great! The 3 tiered Patio sits on the hill and overlooks bustling Jasper Ave. Lots of great colors and of course, plenty of sleek wood grain. The happy hour specials are incredible! $2.75 for Coors Banquet is not a price you find very often. Happy hour is 3-6 and then they do $4 pints from 9-close!Tried out the house made chips and dip and Jerrys dry ribs and they were both tasty.Waitresses were new but were trying their best to keep up.Great spot to check out downtown.Ambiance: 9/10Staff and Service: 7/10Food and Drink: 8/10ONE CHANGE: The open west facing walls are nice to let a draft through but its definitely a breezy location. Perhaps a bit of a plexiglass border or even a couple mature trees to block the wind would be ideal.

Food is decent, however service is lacking. We sat for almost 30 mine before our orders were taken. This was when the restaurant was not busy.
