As far as fish and chips go… average at best! Had a beverage #abbeylane – light ale beer, and thats what every person needs after your work shift heading home. After wetting my pallet with this delicious beer. I ordered my meal, a 2-pc Haddock with chips platter. Service was quick, efficient and to the point, but once served my meal, it was mediocre. 2-pieces of Haddock was good, and not heavily battered at all, and the oil used to deep fry was fresh and not ladened with fatty oil. But the chips, oh those chips… brutal! They were stone cold, dry and HARD. Yes, chips… HARD, and cold. I dont know about you, but chips are soft and served hot. I drank my beer, and chomped away at the haddock, and somehow, managed to eat the cold chips. Had a server come by, and lord knows, I was sitting at the bar/counter-top right at the kitchen/cashier/bar area… youd think someone could ask hows the meal? Or Your doin ok? Can we get you anything else?. Holy smokes… youd think they were so busy and lined up out the door, but they werent, the place was half full at 7:00 pm, Friday. Sorry, to top it off… could I get a another side of Tartar Sauce? Im eating in, and your serving your fish platter meals with wee-plastic disposable 2 oz ramekin throw away cups. Good grief. Value 4/10. Service 1/10. Fish 8/10. Chips 0/10.
