Heard a lot of hype about this place. I’m gonna keep it simple you can have a better meal elsewhere for $50 per person. Many of the meats are bland. Yes you can get sauces and such from the buffet but it really didn’t do much for me. It’s expensive and not mind blowing. Also not sure what we had (we think something from the salad bar) but we both got sick within a few minutes of leaving. Will not go back.
Things have been pretty consistent since it had opened in 2010 or so. I sat outside last time because there was a 20% deal. Not sure if it was a good idea because I had bees, yes – bees, eating my juicy meats. LOL. My friend and I were swarmed on the patio. The servers were quite attentive (being on a weeknight) and we had our fair share of meats. Some of the meats were tough and sometimes it felt like they kept coming around with the same meats, but if you are patient and you ask politely, they’ll definitely bring out the meat you’ve been missing on your plate. I personally like more cooked meats on the outside that’s tougher but saltier, so I didn’t mind it. Just be sure to ask for the medium cuts of meats and they’ll treat you right. The manager was pretty nice and asked us how everything was. She also apologized for all the bugs and insects that enjoyed the meal as much as we did. At the end, we were given $5 discount on a gift card so I can use it during my next visit. I don’t think it’s as good as it was 7-8 years ago but it’s consistent enough. I’d come back if work paid for it or if there’s a weeknight promotion, downtown dining week, or Costco $80 for $100 gift card sale.
We had great food and service. The reason for the subpar review is the manager. Apparently, gift certificates must be processed by a manager. So, as I was paying, the manager loudly pointed out in front of our invited guests that the tip should be based on the original total, not the subtotal after the gift certificate is subtracted. I found this reminder unnecessary and condescending.
While the service was good, I only enjoyed the taste of the garlic sausage and I tried many of the meats. The salad bar was highly disappointing. Out of everything they offered, I only enjoyed the marinated mushrooms and the Brazilian cheese buns. By no means is it worth $50 a person. I would not recommend it nor will be going back.
Sign at the entrance says wait to be seated. Nobody there to seat anyone. Wait staff tells people there’s a wait for tables after people get tired of waiting and seat themselves. You need to hire better management, or risk losing business this way. Otherwise, wait staff and cook staff were excellent. Food was good, but pricey.
Decent meat there, just the all you can eat experience always leaves me with an overwhelming desire to never do that again. Price is a bit much, but if it what your in too get in there.
We went to their Ellerslie location for Sunday brunch and the food was fantastic! The servers were nice and polite. Overall, our experience was great and because of that, we highly recommend this restaurant.
