Brunch at the Fairmont on the patio. The service here is superb from the moment you walk up the steps through your meal and on your way out. Brunch includes coffee, juice, fruits, cheese, seafood, sliced meats, waffles, pancakes, eggs Bennie , roast meats, crepes, desserts, breads, omelets and more ( plus bacon. And sausage) Mimosas are offered for an additional $3.00. Flavors are very good, presented nicely and hot. Coffee and juice glasses are kept full throughout our meal. Scenery inside and out is stunning this morning.

Attended The Phantom of the Opera Halloween gala at Hotel Macdonald. As to be expectedwith all things at Hotel Macdonald they did not disappoint. Empire Ballroom always looks grand but it was especially awesome for the masquerade. Food, drinks, and entertainment were top notch and ambience through the roof.

I had a positive review from a long time ago but I deleted it to write this one, after having been here 4 times in total. At first I loved this brunch, and the food IS excellent, and the unlimited mimosa you get with your meal is a bonus! Or is it? After charging what they do for this brunch, there had better be lots of mimosa. I don’t think it’s worth what they charge for this. What REALLY bothers me is how they make you give your credit card number over the phone when you call to make a reservation, to hold your spot they say? I tried to not give it when they asked, both of the last couple times I went, but they wouldn’t hold my reservation without it. Whatever that even means? I can show up and turns out they gave away my table? If you cancel w less than 24 hours notice they charge you HALF I believe it was, for each person in your party? It’s ridiculous!!!! It really bothers me that they are doing this. I shouldn’t have to give you my credit card number when I’m reserving brunch for 2 people. I’m giving you my business. Not anymore though probably. It’s too bad because I do like the food a lot.

The best 60$ invested in a brunch. All you can eat breakfast, lunch, salad bar, cheeses, desserts AND bottomless Mimosas. Goes from eggs bennie, crab legs, shrimps, pasta, omelette and crepes station. The ballroom is also breathtaking. I’ve been 3 times, never been disapointed.

Disappointing. Went in thinking it’d be worth $64.00 a head (they raise the price during the Holidays. yes, really). It really wasn’t. Where do I start. The service was pretty awful. Plenty of waitstaff, but no one to fill a drink. Waited a good while before someone came around, then had to wait again and again for empty glasses to be filled. Thought more than once to just go get a filled Mamosa glass on my own, even though I’m sure it’d be considered bad form. The food. What to say. Your average stuff in the middle island for a salad bar. Some cheeses, lunch meats (which were not nearly as good as The Italian Market), some random seafood like shrimp from a shrimp ring you could get at M&M, crab legs of pretty haggard quality as they were small without a lot of meat in them. The ‘Kids Center’ was pretty laughable. Couple heat lamps with the most sorry looking pizza/chicken fingers/curly fries (which were looked identical to McCains in your freezer aisle). Some Jello in miniature cups, random pudding found all over the dessert table, and some macaroons. Actual unwrapped chocolate bars in cups? The actual food was your normal fare in any buffet. Those giant Steel heated containers held the normal stuff. Bacon/Sausage. French Toast with a pretentious name on the little card beside it (opened to find normal plain french toast with some frozen berries tossed in). Seafood Medley that had in what looked like Cod/Shrimp/Salmon. Was ok. A Cheese Tortellini with a Pesto Cream sauce wasn’t bad. Their ‘signature smoked salmon’? Skip it. Was mealy and slimy. Turkey at the carvers station was dry. The vast majority of the dessert table had to have been pre-bought from costco. Star of the show was the crepe station. The woman working it knew what she was doing, even though the crepes were prefrozen and not made to order. The sauce was good as that was made properly, but again, frozen fruit. Drinks? Again, enjoy waiting for someone to fill your glass. There’s no drink station. You’re at the mercy of the waitstaff. Might be 2 minutes, might be like my table and a good 20-30 minutes before a glass is filled. Hope you’re into being thirsty. Closest thing is a couple pitchers of smoothies (from powdered smoothie mix of course) and a pitcher of Blueberry/Raspberry juice that was so sweet I now have type 2 diabetes from having half a glass. Thanks for that Empire Ballroom. It’s $64.00 a head. SIXTY FOUR DOLLARS PER PERSON OVER 5 YEARS OLD. I’m telling you, it’s not worth that price. Cut the price by a good two thirds and it’s around that. You’re playing to hang out at the Hotel Mac. I’m convinced. Best part, was how our waitress put in an amount of $143.50 for our meal instead of $134.50. Honest mistake? Possibly. Should it have happened when you’re paying SIXTY FOUR DOLLARS for a buffet? Probably not. The ‘View All 29 Photos’? Every dish is full and pristine and there are cute little carvings like a watermelon ship and some kind of fruit bird? Yeah, absent when I was there. Maybe I was at the wrong Empire Ballroom. HOW are there many a positive review on here? Did my tongue crawl out of my mouth and eat a different restaurant? The food wasn’t amazing. It was just decent. If you’re looking for a good buffet, there are far superior in town for far less of a dent to your Brunch Budget. Skip this place until they up their game. Was fun to try to say I went, but wow was it disappointing.

Service is impeccable as expected from a Fairmont.Room Old world elegant. It really only on the best places in town (and most expensive) places from brunch.Crepe Suzette made to order is always a treat. One of the really important elements of brunch that is often over looked is the drinks. They get it right, the coffee and tea is strong and hot, the mamosa is fresh and not too sweet. Bang on.

Good brunch with great service. I have been to a few Fairmont hotel brunches across Canada and even if this is not the best(hard to beat Chateau Vaudreuil in Montreal) it is very good due to the great service and the garden overlooking the Edmonton river valley. The brunch itself was fairly good and if there is something missing, apparently simply ask and they accommodate if possible. I much prefer spending money there rather than an average or bad supper at a chain restaurant where you feel the food was previously frozen and they still stiff you for $70 for 2 people.
