I’ve been going to sushi ya for many years, and they have the best maki.I highly recommend the spicy salmon, chop scalloped and the spicy tuna!
Disappointing. Just today I tried the chirashi (assorted sashimi on rice). For $10 I got some rice (which, btw, left an aftertaste in my mouth) and 7 pieces of sashimi, all paper-thin. There was also a tamago (sweet egg) slice hiding among the sashimi pretending to be fish. the big blob of ginger literally and figuratively took up as much room as the sashimi. Besides the sashimi slices being too thin, I really can’t comment on the quality or taste of the fish as the rice flavor (vinegar) was too overpowering.I now understand why there is never a line up there at lunch.
Good for quick takeout. Good for take out. I don’t like that despite being a regular that they charge me for my allergy substitution. Having another protein for shellfish shouldn’t be an extra charge as that is already built into the price. Also it is a kind gesture to a regular customer.
This is a restaurant that decieves you with low quality food. The maki combo I ordered should not cost no where near 5 dollars. Makis were huge because it was 95% rice and mayo. This is a cheap old trick that Asian restaurants do. It decieves you by marketting their food as helathy japanese sushi whereas the food you get for the fancy price tag is pure car white rice filled with mayo. Think twice.
Small restaurant but great food! The pricing is quite resonable. Great for small gathering with friends.
Sushi Yeah!. I call Sushi-Ya about once a month from my office and pre-order for pickup. They are always friendly on the phone (especially the gentleman who seems to be in charge), never get my order wrong, and it’s always fresh and delicious. Ready by the time I walk the length of City Centre, I avoid the lunch rush and can enjoy my sushi in the quiet of my office. Time to go get my lunch …
If you’re looking for a nice little sushi place downtown with little wait – pick Sushi Ya. The food is yummy for very good pricing. Made fresh, you can watch or sit in their little dining area. The service is fabulous. I absolutely adore the spicy tuna an salmon there.
