Absolutely the worst customer service ever! manager was arrogant and argumentative when we complained about the fat and gristle in the the Ginger Beef crepe. He brought meat from another crepe to our table to ‘explain’ their meat was top choice. He didn’t apologize for the poor quality of meat in the Ginger Beef and said it wasn’t possible as they only used tenderloin. What was in the Ginger Beef was not tenderloin and he became angry when we said this. Even removing the crepe from our bill does not make up for his terrible behaviour towards us as customers. Although the rest of our meals were good even if a bit pricy, we won’t be back as it’s hard to overlook this awful end to a family meal.
I decided to try this place again after so many years and regret it. It is very expensive and you get a little amount of food. We started with mussels and the portion is little compared to most and it was the most expensive of all mussells I’ve had. The mussells themselves tasted old and not anywhere near fresh. We also had the Chicken Cordon Bleu. The chicken itself was good but the side of mash potato wasn’t mashed at all: there were a lot of solid chunks. We also had seafood aioli pasta and that one was good along with the variety of seafoods in it except the portion was kinda on the short side. In future I will not go back to this place unless the price goes down or the quality of food goes up to actually match the price you are paying for.
Overall the food tasted ok, but was too expensive. There was no wow-factor to the dishes or the environment. I won’t go back simply because I had a forgettable experience.
Place feels tired and old. Ordered mussels and escargots for appetizer. Mussels weren’t too fresh, got replacement escargots which was too salty; by then we didn’t want to bother. Main courses are OK but not impressive. Our server is OK. Had $100 gift cert from 2011 that I forgotten but was told restaurant switch ownership few years back and they cannot honor it even though there’s no expiry on GC.
We decided to have an early Valentines Day dinner at The Creperie. We have made reservations for 4:30 pm as it was the available time slot that wasnt too late in the evening on 02-14-2106. The Creperie is located downstairs on 103 Street NW. Its a quaint little restaurant, quite the romantic atmosphere. Once we arrive, we were greeted by the hostess who was friendly and seated use promptly to the area that was to the left of the hostess table. During the time we were there, there were a few other tables occupied, so it wasnt as busy as i thought it would be for Valentines Day. Our server, a lady with short blonde hair said that it was busy the night before as people thought they would beat the Valentines Day rush the night before. Throughout our time there, our server made us feel rush, as if she would prefer us to quickly order and leave. We had over heard her introduce some type of fried crepe to order to the next table but we werent offered the choice to order it. We had decided to order the 3-Course Valentines Day Special ($48.00). I went with the Potage Dubarry Aux Asparagus Soup to start and had the Crepe Americaine (Scallops, shrimps and monkfish in a tarragon lobster sauce in an herb crepe) with the Combo Crepe (Crepe wrapped vanilla(?) ice cream with a chocolate and strawberry drizzle) for dessert. He had the Mediterranean Salad to start and the Crepe Stroganoff (Strips of beef tenderloin grilled with peppers, onions, pickles and mushrooms in a demi-glace paprika cream sauce). He has the same dessert as me. At this point, we had order but we havent ordered our drinks yet, so we asked for a drink menu and ordered the Peaches and Cream Slush ($4.95) and the Strawberry Swirl ($4.50). They were okay, ice were abit big to suck up the straw so we just waited for awhile for the drinks to melt before we were able to drink some. At least we had water. I am assuming that normally the restaurants noise level is medium to high as the blender in use was quite high throughout our meal… which does not make for a romantic atmosphere. The food came out and presentation doesnt seem to be appealing. It resembles something from a buffet table or cafeteria… steamed vegetables, with the crepe in the middle and a scoop of rice on the side. Luckily, our entrees tasted better than it looked. Lets talk service; service doesnt seem to be the great here. Our waitress was a hit and miss, from overhearing her with her other tables and our experience with her. The way she mentions the price of our meal seems to be like it would be too pricey for us. Also the way she rushed us through our order.Overall, the food at The Creperie wasnt bad, the service was tolerable but unfortunately, i dont think i would come back. Good ambiance, nice decor. The interior has not changed over the 15 years when I first went there. Great service and priced reasonably. Food is okay but great venue for family get together or intimate dinner.
Classy little downtown Gem. Decor is a little dated, but there is a genuine opportunity for a quiet, even romantic meal here. Good food. Acceptable price. Got my folks a gift certificate for Christmas so they to could enjoy a well deserved night out.
