As a frequent business traveller, I experience a varity of restaurant establishments around Edmonton. The Needle Vinyl Tavern is one recent experience I felt compelled to relate to my fellow traveller andCity resident alike. The atmosphere was lively and the decor set our groups evening event, the food was fresh and the presentation was in keeping with the theme. Relaxed, casual and vibrant with live music. All of this in itself would have provided an enjoyable evening which I’d be happy to casually refer to my network, however I feel compelled to speak aboutan element of our groups experience which made a enjoyable evening into an exceptional one.Our server Tania, was a difference maker, her professional, attentive, none intrusive yet up beat, engaging nature provided a truely exceptional evening to our entire group. Congratulations to The Needle Tavern for offering such a positive social experience and for having servers like Tania representing and holding high standards of yourproposition to thepublic. It’s without hesitation I say I’ll be back!

I had a great experience at The Needle Vinyl Tavern. The atmosphere is unique and the service was excellent. I had the Taco Supremo pizza and it was very delicious. They also had a live band and this added to our experience. I would like to come back and try more food! Highly recommended!

This is one of the coolest venues I’ve been been to! It has modern-vintage vibe and I would definitely recommend the Needle! They also have gigs here and I am quite impressed with their sound setup; the acoustics are really good ! Bevs are reasonably priced and the sliders were really tasty! Will definitely be coming here in the future!

After hearing all the hype I tried this place for lunch. They’ve certainly set it up as a great small venue to see bands — which we need — but this is a food site. Sadly, the Needle doesn’t deliver the goods. Think of the bland, safe, pub menu you’ve seen a hundred times. Now make it taste a bit more like the Zellers cafeteria (but without the hot turkey sandwich). I had a super dry burger on a very nice brioche bun. My friend had an over-cooked nugget of salmon with an ill-advised kale/bean salad. The items are priced like hand-crafted foods, but cooked like quick and easy shortcuts. This is the sort of lipstick-on-a-pig dress-up game places try; aping a gastropub, but failing. I can’t wait to see a great show there.

I stopped in to the Needle for a late-afternoon lunch. I was really excited to see another music venue opening up downtown and thought it a nice bonus that they’re serving food too. The menu is pretty standard pub fare and nothing really jumped out at me. Wanting some substantial protein I opted for the grilled chicken club with a side of onion rings. The sandwich itself was fairly well-executed, not overcooked and was made with good quality ingredients. However it wasn’t seasoned very well and my bread was pretty soggy about halfway through as they only toasted it on one side. The Onion rings panko breading was a bit thick and some of my rings were undercooked. The waitress happily brought me a fresh order when I pointed this out. My Barracuda cocktail made with bourbon and peach iced tea was probably the highlight but pretty pricey at $12. All in all I found it pretty underwhelming and likely won’t go back for the food unless I’m there to see a show anyway.

Stopped in for brunch on Sunday. Great atmosphere, especially for a rainy day when a patio is not an option. We had the corn beef hash, the benny and the french toast. I’m gluten free and had no issues with figuring out what I could eat. Overall the food was alright, and definitely all came out cold, but it won’t stop us from trying again some other time once they work out all the brunch time kinks.

This is a cool little joint. Narrow and deep. Dark and music-driven. It’s a place you wouldn’t even think twice about eating here. I decided to be adventurous and came here for lunch of all times. It turned out to be surprisingly delicious. The food was freshly prepared and hot. I mean, the fried chicken I had wasn’t anything authentic but it stood up on its own as a chef’s interpretation of what fried chicken should be. I really can’t stop thinking about how everything was so hot and fresh on my plate. It didn’t take long to prepare and the service was good. The menu is small but I think that’s what made the food so great. Remember that smaller menu means less stale and frozen food and a higher turnover of fresher ingredients and I think chef got that nailed down pat. I would strongly recommend coming here whether it’s for drinks or for food. Drinks review update soon 😉
