Pastrami Reuben and Sriracha Chicken BurgerNeeded some patio time on Jasper and found a really good sandwich. The Pastrami Reuben here is dope. It had pastrami, swiss cheese, sauerkraut, reuben dressing squished between two pieces of buttered and grilled marble rye. This thing was juicy and delicious and good flavor. Everything on this sandwich was done right.Sriracha Chicken Burger had grilled chicken, baked in sriracha sauce, provolone, lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickles, garlic aioli on a brioche bun. Looked pretty lame and tasted average. Both dishes were served not on dishes also, which may bug some people as they were served in little wooden box burger prisons. Doesnt really bother me but I find it funny. The Needle is on 105st and Jasper, and if youve been out at night for a show, its a good venue. Patio is small with communal seating. The Needle offers brunch and late night eats as well, and might be the next place to check out if the quality is as good as that Reuben. If anyone knows where there are better reubens or good sammies in general should let me know. I’d been here once before for a live show and rather enjoyed the venue and service – this was about a year ago. May 6th 2017 was entirely different. We sat ourselves on the patio, understanding that it may take a couple of minutes to get a server’s attention – but it took more like 5 or 6 until someone came to us. She only brought us a food menu (no drinks) and immediately took off.20 minutes passed without service. For 20 minutes we sat there in the sun waiting to be offered drinks, but she never returned to our table. Oh, she came back to the patio , but only to grab other table’s money or dirty glasses and immediately zipped away, ignoring her other tables.Looking into the building, she was mostly wandering around, chatting at the bar with their servers, or idly wiping down empty tables that didn’t need to be wiped down. In short, she forget we existed. So after 20 minutes, she returns to take the order of the table that came and sat down 5 minutes after us and never made eye contact. We got up and left to go find another patio that would actually serve us. We did. It was easy. Not only is it unacceptable to entirely forget your table (the only other place that has ever done this to me was Bistro Praha, and it’s an event that ensures I’ll never return) but when a customer (me) is holding their menu halfway in the air, is halfway off their seat, and making eye contact with servers and NOBODY stops to ask if I need anything, it makes it clear the staff doesn’t care and just wants their shift to be over with. Extremely disappointing service. Won’t be back. This is how you lose customers.
Went in for a weekend brunch for 2 on the patio May 6 — just walked out, after being abandoned by the hippie waitress for 25 minutes. What was her name again? Wait…did she even introduce herself? Probably not. Either forgettable or completely oblivious. She aimlessly wiped tables in the less than half-filled restaurant rather than serve anyone out on the patio. Our only interaction was that she gave us menus. No drink order taken, no water, no nothing. Bored, I fanned myself with my coaster. If she wasn’t wiping tables, she was nowhere to be found. Shame. Seemed like a cool venue. But what a first impression to make. I don’t need to be pampered, but if it’s a struggle to be served, I’ll gladly take my business elsewhere. Avoid!
