I came here upon recommendation by a few diners I met at Alder Room who proclaimed that this was the best Mexican place in Edmonton. I did not leave here disappointed! Tacos come in groups of 4 per protein that you choose. It’s ideal to come with a group of 3-5 and each grab a plate of tacos so everyone can try different flavours! My favourites were the chicken and beef tacos. Staff were nice and patient with us, even taking their time to split the bill for us 4-ways! Other things I would definitely come back for include the Guacomole Totopos and the (Jarritos Tamarind drink if you’re looking to try a new pop!)
Strange that I would find a very good place for tacos and tortas so far north of Mexico. Had the chips with guacamole and was impressed with the freshness and flavor. Ordered the chorizo tacos and a carne asado torta. Both were well done. You order up front and grab a table when you can. All in all, except for the deafening music, this is a will come back place.
Been here probably more than five times, and not once have I had a bad experience. The food is exceptional! (I greatly recommend the papas fritas ) The ambiance is amazing too. I think my only complaint is that it is a small place so it gets crazy busy, but that should be expected with this deservingly popular place!
After hearing so much about Tres Carnales I finally got a chance to try it out & did not disappoint. I got the chorizo tacos which were $15 & come in fours & the papas fritas, fried potatoes topped with queso fresco & quajillo chile chimmichurri. The tacos were amazing the chorizo actually tasted like they did in Mexico & were not over cooked which seems to be a problem in Canadian Mexican restaurants. The papa fritas were pretty good but a couple of the potatoes were not fully cooked but the queso fresco was amazing. All in all was a great meal wish you could mix & match tacos so you can try more than on style but not a big deal & based on the chorizo I will be back to try more.
This place is always busy and for good reason. 4 mini tacos for $15…doesnt look filling but it always hits the spot. Quick turn around…I guess the owners dont want you sticking around for too long…so take out is probably a good idea. $15 for 4 mini tacos. Fresh ingredients and toppings. Well worth a try..maybe go when there is no lunch rush.
Great food, service was a bit slow, but when the food is good you shouldnt mind waiting. Definitely would go back and sit on the patio with a beer.
Everything about Tres is amazing. The atmosphere is super trendy and welcoming. The staff are super friendly and helpful to those who have never been there. The fish tacos are the best IMO but the sample plate is great too. Don’t forget to try the guacamole and chips while you’re there.
