This place has been around for years, it’s a Calgary landmark. It has an enormous number of beers on tap and in bottles. Typical regular pub food, decent but ordinary. But the reason come here is during Stampede, when they serve prairie oysters. And if you know what those are, you know you’re in Calgary. Make sure you have a few beers first.
This restaurant is rather dark inside, I understand wanting to create ambiance but if it’s hard to see the menu, it’s too dark. Ordered the perogies and kielbasa to share. For $16 you hardly get anything. One sausage and like 4 perogies which hardly seems worth it for one person let alone two. Drinks were alright, a bit strong (which I’m sure some people wouldn’t mind) but if you don’t enjoy what you’re drinking there’s no point.
A part of Buzzards, this place has good pub food and right on the corner of 10th Ave and 1 street sw. Close walking distance from many offices and behind the Calgary tower. They have the same menu as Buzzards, offering over 300 types of beer,; you can start a beer passport where you get stamps each time you drink a different beer and earn a sweater if you collect 80 stamps within a year.
This pub is fantastic !!! We came with a group of 20 people and although we had to sit at two different tables our waitress was fantastic. Kept all our drink orders and food orders correct and as a added bonus gave us all separate bills at the end. She (Renee I believe) was the best !!! The beer list is impressive ! Lots to choose from! The food selection was great we all ordered something different and everyone was impressed, top notch pub food ! A real bang for your buck. The salmon tacos were delicious- lots of little breaded pieces of salmon, plenty veggies and good with some hot sauce. The green curry was also a hit. Overall this was great ! Will definitely be returning !!!!
Not going to find anything here that blows your mind, just a good, basic pub. One of the better beer selections in Calgary, dozens of beer from around the Globe. They have one of the longer Happy Hours in Calgary (4-7). Food isn’t anything special, but it will go down good with your drinks. Attentive and friendly staff is a bonus, as many downtown bars/pubs can’t say the same.
Beer is good. Food was great, had the butter chicken and was blown away. I sat at the bar and was also blown away by the what I presume to be 12 year old boy in skater shoes, with a bad attitude, bartending. He was very rude and unprofessional, but nothing compared to the female manager (I think) who came behind the bar and poured herself a drink with a scowl on her face. My visit was an all around weird experience. Beer menu was great though, wish I saw more bars back in NS with a list like that.
Table chalk. Some family and I went to buzzards, and we’re kicked out for using the chalk that’s in the bathrooms on the table. They have chalk boards in the washrooms to draw on I assume. So my friends and family thought it be fun to play hangman on the table and draw pictures. We were rudly asked to leave, like a dictator she cut us down, and ridiculed us for embarrassing her and her establishment, and prevented the waitress we had from getting the tip she deserved. The place is nice, the food is over priced but the beer selection is excellent, we won’t be going back because we were so rudly kicked out. We had never had problems before playing cards, dice, or a broad game I guess they weren’t looking for customers this Friday evening.
