Tasty! We enjoyed lunch before heading to the theatre. Each of the three of us tried a different signature bowl. I got the Bonsai Beef; it was great and large enough to fill me up and take some home for a late night snack. My friends tried the Panda and the Buddha; both got excited reviews. Service was friendly and efficient. Its an older room decorated with interesting local art. Overall, Id say comfortable. Check it out!
Cafe Koi is such an amazing venue, with delicious food, cool artwork and great live music (or at least I hope it was since I was one of the ones performing…). I decided to try the Buddha Bowl ($16) – a huge bowl of silky Thai green curry, with lots of fresh vegetables and three pieces of pan fried tofu, served with a side of fragrant, perfectly cooked jasmine rice. The tofu had a lovely crust on it, leading to a crispy and wonderfully spiced exterior and a creamy interior. The dish was delicious, but be warned that it is very, very rich and fairly spicy! I’ll definitely be back to try more!
Went here for lunch with a few friends for the first time. The menu isn’t overwhelming which is nice, and the food we all got was delicious. The others got rice bowls while I went with the Bonsai Beef with shanghai noodles-it was delicious. I left wishing my meal was a bit bigger even though it was plenty! I will definitely go here again.
I used to loved Cafe Koi but was disappointed on my last visit. The veg and meat were fresh and well cooked, but the sauces were off. I had the tiger claw (coconut curry) and it was gluggy and the flavours were not well balanced. My dining partner had similar complaints. Hope it was just an off day.
Went to this place just last night for dinner with family and since this place was on my wish list, i was very excited and was waiting to be wowed !! And was I wowed !!It’s a tiny, cozy place with really pleasant, courteous staff.. One of the few places with a lot of vegan/vegetarian options.. Also they offer wide range of gluten free dishes which was an absolute delight for a health freak like me.To begin with, ordered a ‘Jade dragon’ for drinks which was delicious.. For the main course we went with rice/noodle bowls – The Buddha, Shanghai noodle bowl and Flaming Fury.. All of them were based on different pan-asian flavors and we really enjoyed them. We also ordered some coffees for after the meal and overall had a good evening with the band playing and a lovely meal.
Cafe Koi is fantastic ! The server is amazing, she hustled as the restaraunt was very busy for a live performance – she remembered every drink order, food order and even had all (16 of us) on separate bills. Kudos !!! The meals are wicked. We shared the yam-abushi appetizer and ginger beef – both fantastic with great flavor. Their bowls are delicious ! I had the tiger claw and was delicious, awesome selection of veggies and really good coconut curry broth. They had lots of great choices for the vegans and gluten free people at our table too ! Fantastic !
I love Cafe Koi! My office is a block away so I eat here a lot during the week. I love the Ginger Beef and the Dragon bowl. Service is sometimes a bit snippy but not enough to complain about.
