Servers are Cheap with Portions (VERY DISAPPOINTING). Both Cultures and Tandori have just okay food. The servers though (particularly the one lady who runs it) is VERY CHEAP with portions. Today I had ordered a wrap with 2 salads combo just an hour before close. The salads I chose had lots left and the lady barely gave me much. I had to ask her if she give me extra and she just put one honeydo piece and closed the box. So then I asked her if they serve their fruit and salads fresh, and she said it’s all newly cut and fresh fruits and veggies in the morning. So do they throw all the stuff from the day before out, or is she lying and was being cheap.Very disappointed…
Cultures: Fresh, healthy and tastey! Tandor: Meh. I have been getting bored of all the places downtown but I find myself hitting up Cultures sometimes 2-3 times a week and I just don’t get sick of it. Great lunch spot, and good variation in their salads.
Just not good I’m afraid. Tandoori – Go grab a takeout box from a real Indian spot. You’ll get twice as much for your money and much better food. Cultures- good salads but a panini is not a cold sandwich that you throw in the press for 10 seconds to give it some grill marks. Disappointing all around.
Tandori – Declining Quality. The first few times I ate at Tandori was great. The chicken was tender and the sauce flavourful. The last few times the quality has gone down and today there was barely any chicken and what I did have was tough. I threw out most of it and am left with a sour tast in my mouth. I figured I would give them a chance since my first experiences were delightful, but I think today will be the last time I eat there.
I have been to Tandori 3 times and every time, I am so delighted at how consistently delicious the curries are! They are perfectly spiced and the meat is melt-in-my-mouth tender. I’d pick this place over the two take-away Indian buffet restaurants nearby anyday!
Cultures is good, Tandori not.. Let me be clear, folks. I tried Tandori twice. I did not dislike it. But, hey, I did not like it either. It was oh so greasy. And yet, the facing Deli called Cultures is a good surprise. You will get fair sandwiches and salads for a decent price. So, Tandori no, cultures yes.
Rice bowl = good value. The $5 rice bowl is very good value – especially downtown where it can be almost impossible to buy a good lunch for under a tenner.A good heap of basmati with your choice of curry on top. There are a good selection on offer, with enough variation for vegetarians.I’ve only tried three so far (butter chicken, curry chicken, chickpea curry) but all were tasty and a good lunch option.
