This place is a great healthy option!!! Honestly I would eat at this each time I amNear this location or market mall food court…. Unfortunately it can really addUp $$ wise. And isn’t incredibly filling. But totally packed with flavour !!!!!! I look forward to trying more flavor salad combinations
I’ve passed by the downtown location numerous times but checked out the new market mall location today. Salads are $3.50 per scoop and there is tons to choose from. As with all ‘healthy’ choices these days though it can be a little expensive when you add some protein and a drink. I had two scoops of salad and added chicken breast and it wrang up to $12. Overall though I enjoyed it and walked away quite satisfied (full).
The thought of spending $3.50 per scoop of salad was rather off-putting until I tried dirtbelly’s ahi tuna salad (tuna, watermelon rashish, edamame, broccoli stems with ginger vinaigrette). It was a perfect medley of flavours and had a good balance of crunchiness and nuttiness, which made it a reasonably priced downtown lunch option. The broccoli, kale, ricotta salad was also decent, although not as delicious as its tuna counterpart. If you are in the area and are craving lighter fare, I would definitely give dirtbelly a try.
Why oh why did they change the ahi tuna baco?!?! It was delicious with the asian slaw and wasabi aioli and it was a good portion of food. Today it was flavourless slaw, and a sad, small portion. Was a go to for me, not anymore 🙁
Love the salad varieties… slightly on the pricey side but the quality is great. Definitely coming back for more, it will be one of my favorite lunch spot!
Noticed this place just before the lunch hour while walking by on the +15 last week and decided to stop in. Interesting concept of pay per scoop salads. I had the one with edamame beans and tuna in it and all I can say is, wow! The chicken breast that I added wasn’t real chicken breast, but more like the synthetic type that come frozen with the fake grill lines. Next time I’ll eat the salad plain or try adding the seared tuna.
A bit pricey for some salad. Dirtbelly does own up to its name though, everything is prepared fresh, organic and nutritious. It’s a cute little shop and located very close to my work. I highly recommend their tuna as an addition to any salad you choose. My personal favourite is the sweet potato and quinoa!
