Goro and Guns happy hour nights are a ate. They have $5 Sapporos and $5 sashimi. Coming here during happy hour was worth it as we ordered a lot of their $5 items. We ordered ramen burger with a beef patty and kimchi (disappointed with no flavor or seasoning – 2 pieces of kimchi is a horrible substitute), assorted sashimi (5 – 6 pieces) for $5 which was a steal of a deal (decent cuts), takoyaki (tasted okay but too much breading inside), and tuna poke (good large cuts of tuna with decent flavor). I’d recommend coming here only for happy hour. Regular prices here are high for average items. The service here was serious lacking (worse than an asian restaurant) but the general manager was nice enough to apologize for the service.
Located near to C train station. Everything was as I expected except atmosphere. All prices are reasonable. Me and my boyfriend enjoyed taste of meal.
We came for a Friyay Happy Hour yesterday. It was quite busy and we did not have a reservation so we got seated at the bar. Our server was very friendly and immediately gave us the happy hour menu. We got some drinks and ordered some tuna poke which was really fresh and melt-in-your-mouth amazing. We also got takoyaki, it was delish! I was curious about the ramen burger as it was all the hype a few years back and I have never tried it so we got some. It was ok, just fried ramen noodles on a burger patty. A very creative concept though but not a big fan. We could not resist ordering a ramen so we shared the kimchi ramen. The broth was savoury but the minced pork made it too thick and I would rather have slices of pork if given the choice. We were feeling repleted after all that happy hour goodness and at $5 each (except for the ramen) that was a steal!
Have now been to this restaurant 4 times, great spot for lunch or for their happy hour eats from 3-6 between $3-$5. Eliza is our usual server and she is WONDERFUL. The rolls and appetizers are really tasty, although the ramen here really is mediocre at best. The staff is attentive and one of the reasons we keep coming back, however the food is not mind blowing enough to warrant a 5/5
GORO + GUN RAMEN is a Japanese Restaurant, which contemporary eatery serving sushi rolls, ramen soups & Japanese mains such as BBQ teppanyaki. By accident, I found this restaurant in the Core Mall downtown Calgary on last Wednesday and had a quick lunch there.Environment:I arrived restaurant around 12 pm, which was right at the lunchtime. There were so many people in the restaurant. I had to wait for a table outside the restaurant about 10 to 15 mins. After a while, the server took me inside the restaurant. The restaurant designed into two parts dining and bar. since it was super busy. I had to sit on the bar side of the restaurant. The restaurant was very nice and clean. Inside the restaurant had modern style design. It was a very fancy restaurant.Service:After I sat down, the server guy brought the menu and water to me. He was very nice and friendly. He has provided a very helpful suggestion for me to order.Food & Prices :TONKOTSU RAMEN for lunch. It was a little bit pricey around $ 13. The ramen was including pork belly, red ginger, arugula, fried onions, and pork broth. After waiting about 5 mins, my food came out of the kitchen. It was in a big fancy bowl. Looks like its a very small portion of food. However, I felt super full after I ate them all. The soup was very tasty. In summary, It was my best ramen experience in Calgary so far. Even though it was expensive, it was very nice to have a try in the new restaurant. food.belindajin.com
I prefer the Tonkatsu Ramen. Considering it is ramen, this place is very expensive, but the taste is great. It uses good ingredients.Unfortunately, I’m not a big fan of the Happy Hour menu. I do like some of the rolls like rainbow roll from the main menu. It had a generous amount of fish (scallop, tuna, shrimp, and salmon), and the avocado was fresh. While the place looks big, it doesn’t have a lot of tables. Be sure to book in advance.
Great restaurant. Price-wise, it’s on the mid-upper end of mid-range, but the food is great, service is good, and I love coming here. Most recently I had calamari and garlic tonkotsu ramen which was the best bowl of ramen I’ve had. The calamari was crispy, not greasy at all, very tasty. The ramen was awesome with flavorful salty broth, toothsome noodles and melt-in-your-mouth pork belly. I always enjoy myself at G+G and will surely keep coming back!
