One of our favorite sushi spots! It’s not all you can eat, but we are always more than satisfied and the quality is great. We always go for the spicy salmon crunch rolls, salmon avocado, golden California, Stampede rolls, and a few extra bits. The service is quick, the restaurant is always clean and they are very friendly! Also great for takeout, and so fast even when you order at the counter. carlivh.com
Not a bad sushi restaurant! The sushi was definitely fresh and really well made. The speciality rolls were great quality for money as they aren’t only huge but also stuffed with fish, caviar and all sorts. The service was quite slow, especially for the fact that we were the only customers in the restaurant and the prices were pretty average. Would go back, although there might be some other sushi restaurants downtown that I prefer as opposed to Haru.
Super good bbq squid. The atmosphere is decent. The servers are good looking. Definitely will come back again especially for the yummy bbq squid and salmon tataki.
Go anywhere else.Everything tasted like it had just come out of the freezer or fridge. Complete waste of money. This place will not last more than a few more months being in such an expensive locations and having such terrible food.
We went here for dinner last night after wanting to go for a while. The service was standard, atmosphere was decent, and dining/washrooms were clean. The place was strangely empty (two other tables) for Thursday at 6.The quality of the sushi is where things went seriously down hill. None of the rolls had much for flavor (even Earls does a better dynamite roll) and the avocado was blatantly rotten. I mean, look at the photo! This wasn’t a case of the surface turning brown… it was a case of the chef using visibly rotten ingredients.I was definitely put off by the avocado because it made me question what other ingredients were past their best before date? I am also unsure of how a chef would let that leave his kitchen? What waiter would bring this to a table? The empty booths all started to make sense.I definitely will not return.
Haru Sushi opened up very recently over the summer and is conveniently (or should I say, dangerously) close to my work building. I’ve only visited once but I was pleased with the reasonable prices and tasty offerings. I ordered a lunch time combo and a sushi roll and both were delicious. I will have to visit again to try more of their plates. The striking feature of this location is the interior design and atmosphere. It is beautifully furnished and spacious. The sakura / cherry blossom tree decor brings back fond memories of visiting Japan and there is a modern and sleek theme throughout the restaurant. The atmosphere would be perfect for a romantic date.
I have been to this Haru twice now and have been very satisfied with both visits. Not only their food are fresh and tasty but also they are consistent and just so yummy!!! We had the Haru platter and it was just awesome. This is now my favourite Japanese restaurant in Calgary.
