Haru offers sushi with a unique taste to most sushi lovers. We tried this place today out of a random draw of a hat. As we walked in we were greeted with a nice smile. Looking around we noticed the interior was nice decorated and had a modern feel. We ordered the stampede roll, scallop roll, smoked salmon roll, and sashimi. When I took a bite my mind was trying to figure out the different flavors which were happening in my mouth. This restaurant seems to like using fruit in their rolls which might work for some people but this threw me off a bit. The stampede roll was unique in a way they used balsamic dressing for flavor (this works). I can see overall these guys tried hard on their visual presentation as it looked great, but they might need to work on how they mix fruit and fish together. The sashimi here looked nicely cut but is limited to the usual tuna, salmon and toro. Prices here are average.

I was looking for some sushi close to our hotel and landed on this establishment. The restaurant is beautiful and clean, but sadly was very slow on a Saturday night. I ordered a few favourites including salmon tataki, some select nigiri, and one of their specialties, the stampede roll. The tataki was lackluster (I still maintain that Mio sushi in Airdrie does this dish best), however the fish quality on the nigiri (salmon, toro, scallop, and unagi) was excellent. The major standout was the stampede roll, which was so good that I ordered an extra one to take back to our hotel. Overall, a great meal that doesn’t sit too heavy, and great service to boot. Hopefully more people will come try out their fine wares.
