I got chicken shwarma and when I got back to work and started eating it, I could smell something weird. Turned out, the chicken in the shwarma was smelling. I didn’t even bother eating it..5 years of patronage and this is what you get. Not going back there.
So good.. Went here two days in a row after first trying it. I like to think of myself as a connoisseur of sorts when it comes to Shawarma, and this is definitely the best I’ve had in the Downtown area in Calgary. No question about it. They are made with care and the people running it are super nice. I came in with my wife and baby, and they gave us a free bowl rice and chicken to give to him.Definitely will be coming back.

I didn’t catch the gentleman’s name who made my shawarma, but never have I seen so much care and attention put toward assembling food… He is meticulous and artistic, as though he were decorating a cake and wrapping a present! I was blown away by his service even before I was blown away by the shawarma; Juicy, flavourful chicken, fresh veg, good sauces… The place is humble, tucked away beside construction, but clean, quick, friendly, and delicious. I urge anyone nearby looking for a quick bite to make their way to Mazaj.
AWESOME. I ate here today and had the best mixed meat shawarma I have had in a long time. My coworkers and I are on a mission to find the best shawarma in the city and this is definitely in the top three. Some might say they have revolutionized the pita. Go and enjoy!
BEST SHAWARMA IN CALGARY. This is by far, hands down, the best Lebanese cuisine in Calgary. I live for days when I get to eat at Mazaj. There is not a bad thing on that menu. The staff is overly friendly and you always feel welcome. Love it! Try it! and EAT EAT EAT…
Middle East Adventure – Great food and service.. I have had two fabulous experiences at this Middle Eastern/Mediterranean eatery. The chicken,beef, or combo platters come with so much taste and flavors. Served with great hummous (with olive oil, paprika, and parsley), a side of various veggie options ( cabbage, onions with sumac, pickles, parsley, etc), the main portion of chicken/beef/combo on a bed of rice with all the nice sauces and more veggies. Believe me, it’s a large serving, I was unable to finish it both times as my time was pressed. They have many more options on their menu than the platters and will have more traditional Mediterranean dishes on the way. Also, the service and attention by staff made my ordering quite pleasant. So make your way here now and have a great time with great food at great prices.UPDATE:This Mediterranean place still delivers the one of the most amazing strong flavors and presentation in their food. It’s very evident after tasting their food, that they know what they are doing. Good portions and excellent service. Been going for more than 2 years. Do try this place out.
