Id heard a lot about this place last year from visitors coming into town. Made it out yesterday finally and was very happy. The sandwich isnt large for $10 but its very high quality. The bun was fresh, the porchetta was juicy and a nice mound of it, and the green sauce (chimichurri?) was excellent. Its also great to see them carrying local beers! Staff were friendly and well trained. Parking isnt the easiest.
It was very tasty. Trendy place, may need your beard to eat here! Ha. Pretty good pork sandwich. I just wish I didnt have to eat a second lunch cause the potion didnt fill me up at all. They need to large up that sandy for the price you pay. But I guess its downtown and your expected to spend $20 to be full at lunch? Other than that it was a tasty sandwich. Just buy 2 and a soup to last ya the rest of your day.
Porchetta sandwich took longer than necessary. The server just carefully cut all the fat and put it on my sandwich. so as the fat congealed it just became one cold fat sandwich.
I no longer have to travel a great distance to be able to nab one of my favorite sandwiches anymore, HURRAY! Thankfully Meat and Bread has expanded to my neighboring city, Calgary. Nothing like adding another great restaurant to the ever so growing food scene in Cowtown.Deeming to be our last Calgary trip of the summer. I mustered up a willing troll to join me to venture through downtown Calgary to hit up the shop. Opened from Monday to Saturday 11am-5pm. Perfect window for lunch, not so perfect for us toads that decided to go for dim sum before hand. hahaaaaa…Keeping theme with the Vancouver locations, focused on minimalist detailing along with more of a family seating style. You walk through the entrance and behold, the counter. With an open style concept divided with glass, you see all the magic happening behind the counter. Typically your eyes would marvel at a giant slab of porchetta at the front end of the counter. (sense my salt yet?)The order and go counter moving you deeper into the eatery. Its quite roomy in here, with two marble topped high tables and bar seats along the windows. Just enough space for the few that are there to shovel down a sandwich- but typically a grab and go type of joint.Arriving a little bit after the lunch rush at 1pm. They had already sold out of my golden treasure, the porchetta. 😡 So, I settled for the special of the day, specials rotate daily btw! On this visit, it was a pulled pork sandwich topped with pickled veggies, with a dab of hot sauce on the side for an added kick. This was good, just wasnt enough to meat the expectations of the porchettaThough this visit fell short Ill be sure to stop by again whenever Im back in town, dearly noted to arrive earlier for porchetta.
Awesome sandwiches. Limited selection but the attention to flavours is worth the limited selection. Fresh bread, re-warmed before they add the fillings. The porchetta was sliced in front so you can see how fresh and juicy it was. So worth a visit.
Came here with a coworker today. We went early around 1130 to beat the rush. Service was friendly and efficient. They had an assembly line where you order and they put your sandwich together, move down the line and order soup or salad if you want and then order a drink at the till. The order was ready pretty fast. You can order it to stay or to go. I got the Porchetta sandwich which had salsa Verde and crackling skin mixed in with the porchetta. It was delicious! The bread was soft and really fresh. It came with a side of mustard to dip. My coworker got the Alberta beef sandwich and she really liked it said it was flavourful. They have some still water on the side for dine in customers so you don’t need to buy bottled water. I will definitely be back to try other sandwiches.
It’s finally here! Ordered the Porchetta sandwich that had salsa verde, and tender pork with the crackling skin (the best part in my opinion). It was just as delicious as when I had it in Vancouver. You place your order, they make the sandwich, move down the line, they box it up (whether you stay or take it to go it’s boxed up), pay and you’re done. There’s a few seats in the restaurant to eat but it was just as satisfying when I ate it back at the office.Update:You know it’s reliable and tasty when you go back the next week for the Alberta Beef sandwich – Pickled Mushrooms and Onions, Arugula, Horseradish Cream. Update: Dec 2017Went for their turkducken sandwich and it was delicious! At first it seemed expensive at $12.50 a sandwich, but then if you think about the amount of work in a Turducken (stuffing and deboning a chicken into a duck into a turkey), how juicy it was when you bite into it, how the flavors really do encompass turkey dinners down to the cranberry sauce, and that it’s not a regular menu item, you think why not treat yourself to this deliciousness.
