I have a hard time getting excited about this place. When I had a corporate job this was definitely a hang out on a Friday afternoon. It’s swank, got a polished vibe. They can cook a steak, believe it or not — as long as I’m not paying for it. Drinks cost more than a barrel of oil on an expense account. The fun never ends as long as somebody else is buying. But thats the point. It’s superficial as hell, and proud of it. All that’s wrong about Calgary.
I must say I was less then impressed, only had app’s with a couple of friends from work, and we just did some sharing, the place itself is rather nicely appointed, the decor was nice, the server was friendly but came across as uninterested maybe as we were after the lunch service she could have been just burnt out, the food came out fairly quickly, we had sliders, Beef bites,Lobster Mac and some dumplings , the presentations were poor ,not inspired at all, most of the stuff was bland and needed seasoning, nothing about the place inspired me to make a return visit, it was okay but wouldn’t go out of my way to visit it again or recommend it.
My spouse & I had decided to go out on a Anniversary dinner at this restaurant last week & the dinning experience was a disaster. Upon entering the restaurant we were not properly greeted by the server, but greeted with the sense of being a nuisance. However we choose a booth to be seated in received menus and waited on our server. The server started out great she came & took our drink orders followed by the food order, she stopped by again to let us know that our food would arrive shortly which it had. Once the food arrived we had sent the mushrooms back due to them being over seasoned and requested a replacement, upon doing so we had also ordered 2 glasses of wine to have with our dinner. We patiently waited for this order and the server had not returned, we spoke the the young lady doing the food runs from the kitchen who went to look into the issue, relayed the message that the kitchen was starting the mushroom at that moment. This became a problem when our meals were both finished no mushrooms were not served & no wine way received, on top of that our server was no where to be found. We spoke again to the young lady who was running food from the kitchen & she very rudely asked what we wanted, we let her know that we were still waiting on wine & our sides so she let the GM know. The GM approached our table apologized for the lack of service that was received and comped our 2 $4 drinks and took the mushrooms off the bill. Once we spoke to the GM we waited again for our server to get the bill & she had not returned, we had to approach the bar to get our bill because at this point our server was still no where to be found & the GM was busy speaking to someone else. The customer service we received at your restaurant was far beyond disappointing & wanted to let you know. The server was never seen again nor did we receive an apology. GM seemed more irritated with us as we had approached the bar for the bill than with the fact that his staff with giving a horrible performance. The $4 drinks that was comped was appreciated however an unacceptable way to cover up the horrible service that was received from the 4 members of staff we had spoken to that night. This by far is the is worst we have ever been treated in a restaurant or your caliber. We have received a more hospitable service at McDonald’s and was expecting more or at least similar service from a restaurant of your caliber. Next time your staff is to busy to take more guests please let us(the customers) know & we will gladly take our business else where.
This place was just a bit meh. Both of our dishes were ok, but nothing really that great. Our waiter also seemed a bit disinterested. They do have a great patio though. But it’s not enough to get us back here again. Try one of the many other great places along Stephen Avenue!
Came here for lunch one day with a couple of friends. It was super busy at lunchtime and we hadn’t made a reservation, so it was great that they managed to fit us all in! The downside was that we kind of got lost in the system, so nobody had been assigned to serve us! We managed to adopt a waitress for our table, and fortunately she took care of us for the rest of the meal.I was in a burger mood so I ordered the angus reserve burger with a side of sweet potato fries. We also ordered the chipotle chicken fettucine. The burger was actually very tender and delicious. I’ve had a lot of shoddy burgers recently, and this one was pretty good! The bowl of pasta was enormous, with a huge bit of blackened chicken whacked on the top. I got major food jealousy, and insisted on trying some. It was actually pretty delicious – a nice creamy sauce with lots of peas and mushrooms.I’ve also been here for a drink another time, and the service here was great. The drinks were fairly reasonably priced considering the location, and it’s a great place for after work drinks. Will happily come back here again and again in the future. eliteyyc.com
Visited the Met with a colleague the other night. It was busy as usual with the after work business crowd, but we were able to find a quiet table closer to the back. The atmosphere was modern and classy with dark leathered booths and seats for individual seating. We enjoyed Kronenberg beers which I would highly recommend. I haven’t come across this beer in Winnipeg so it was a nice treat. I ordered the lobster, bacon mac&cheese which I found to be average. There were bits of meat in it, but it didn’t resemble the taste or look of lobster. Myfriend ordered the Korean beef rice bowl minus the fried egg which she unfortunately, was not too pleased with. Both dishes were overpriced, mine costing $26 a plate, and hers being $17 which she communicated to the waitress as being a small portion for the cost. It also had an odd meat to rice ratio. There were a few other mains that the waitress suggested, so I’m hoping it will change our minds about the food. The prompt and friendly service and atmosphere was great, so it may warrant another visit.
I come here for steak and wine when I am in town. love the quality of the steak they have here. Usually hit the dinner scene but the last time I came it was around 1230 or so when their lunch was starting to die down. Met Brody the day manager for the first time and he was great. Had some fun cocktails instead of just the vino and they were great. Great experience last visit. Thanks Brody,
