French Macarons made in Calgary. Monplaisir will be one of the three names youll hear when youre talking about Macarons in Calgary. Aside from the other two, Monplaisir is the one that stands in the middle of Core Shopping Centres food court alongside Tim Hortons. The displays are eye catching, every flavor stacked side to side from end to end. Couldnt leave my spot without nabbing a few to much on. I got to try 4 flavors this visit. Rose Lychee is hands down my favorite from here. Unique mix that I hadnt seen in a macaron form and they nailed each flavor perfectly and blended it into a perfect bite. Earl Grey, Lemon and White Chocolate were the other 3 flavors I had and they all tasted pretty standard. Texture wise, the shells all had a soft and chewy interior with a smooth and shiny top. The filling had a nice balance of sweet savory that wasnt overly sticky. At $2.50 a piece, yes they are the pricier ones in the city.They taste great, they held up from the drive through Calgary to Edmonton and still tasted just as fresh while still feeling nice and airy. Is this now my-go to for macarons in Calgary? No. Maybe only for the Rose Lychee and maybe any new flavors that would catch my eye but not my top choice for a standard macaron run.
