A very busy and loud place on a Friday night, where you can barely hear yourself think or have a conversation. It is quite a younger crowd mainly, and really feels like Generation Instagram. The drinks are decent, and the food is mediocre. We had the popcorn, deep fried pickles and queso dip with chips. Nothing impressive and allOverpriced of course. However it is a rooftop that is just cool and pretty at night, and its pleasant to be outdoors.
Not business lunch friendly. Arrived at 12 sharp. Didnt see a waitress for 10 minutes. Didnt take order until 12:30. Food came at 12:50. Didnt get bill until 1:30 despite asking earlier. Cant really comment on the food – was in too much of a hurry to eat. Terrible
Obsessed with the patio. It’s incredible. So beautiful. The food isn’t too bad. I’ve only tried their happy hour stuff, so the oysters and the tacos. Both were decent.
Too busy in here, it’s hard to get on the roof top patio. Food was slow a bit salty. Service was good and we have to go to the bars for drinks most the time. The roof top patio is great to hang out at in a nice day. Won’t come back tho.
Looking forward to the patio opening. Love the menu for snacks and wine or beer. Tater tots who knew??? The staff are friendly, the service quick. If I am in the area I love the Thursday Clive burger and a beer, they will sub in a glass of wine.Great patio. . . .go enjoy a nice sunny evening
Happy hour at National is 3pm-6pm where beer is $.25 per ounce for any of the beers that they have on tap and there is definitely something for everyone at this bar.We also had the buck a shuck oysters on special during happy hour – there’s only two options of West coast or East coast, although they only had East coast left (so really one option) but it’s a dollar and you can’t go wrong. If you are an oyster conniseur then you should not it only comes with oysters and three vinegar type sauces – no horseradish. It’s a dollar – what do you expect though.Friday’s special was also the fish and chips which comes with a side of coleslaw for $11. Funny enough, we had completed some comparisons and noticed inconsistencies in fries and slaw portions that came with the special.-the friend who joined us later that evening after first drinking at National 17th pointed out that his entire plate at National on 17th was filled with fries and a large portion of coleslaw was included-my order at National on 8th earlier when we first arrived had maybe 3/4 plate of fries and a small container of slaw-another friend who arrived late at National on 8th and ordered the fish and chips received 1/2 a plate of fries and a small container of slaw. Also ordered deep fried pickles $8 for 4 pickles.Service was good with the exception of1) reservations. Apparently there’s no reservations after 4pm but on the website, there’s no reservations before 5pm. So when I reserved at 5pm for Friday, received the email to confirm and then called in to confirm again (which good thing I did), I was surprised to hear them tell me that I didn’t have a reservation. While they did politely accommodate my reservation, it wasn’t without being consistent in re-iterating that I had an email from National that said my reservations were confirmed. 2) when we had to clear the bill. We were a party of 10 where a few people came and left which made the bill a bit confusing. In the end, I don’t think the waitress had any dishonest intentions but I have a feeling I definitely overpaid for the bill. If you are a large party, I would suggest perhaps all paying with card instead of mixing cash and card so that it’s easy to tally how much was paid. The best thing about National is that the place is large and easy to fit large groups and the extensive list of beer (great price during happy hour). Service and food seem like they would be a hit or miss here, so maybe just come for the beer during happy hour.
Good pub food. I’m kind of surprised with the low rating here. I am here for drinks after work and sometimes for lunch almost every week. Plus their rooftop patio is just amazing in the summer. I’m not sure why don’t they have the wings specials anymore. If anything, that would bring in more people.
