Time for a return visit, missing the meatloafDave and his crew run an amazing restaurant. I got there just as a lot of folks were leaving to go to the theater. Before I was served the place was full again. I had the bacon wrapped meatloaf with herbed mashed potatoes and a beer inspired gravy. 100% on point. Could not have been any better, the flavours, the texture, all on point. GO you will not be disappointed, I cannot wait to go back and try a few other things.
I honestly don’t understand the negativity here – I was suitably impressed when I visited here a while back.As I understand it, the place is relatively new having recently moved into a space vacated by another long time establishment. It’s small and a little on the eclectic side. Lots of wood and a little on the darker side but comfortable enough. There was one guy looking after all the patrons the night we attended – he was friendly and helpful and the service was good. The food was excellent – both fish and beef dishes were well prepared and presented, fresh and hot. Excellent flavour on both the protein and veggies.Coupled with a nice craft beer selection I was very happy with the food and service. It’s a little pricier but it is downtown Calgary and I’ve no complaints on the value proposition. I’d come back here for sure.
The server we had was great but the only downfall was my burger was raw! We also had the duck sandwich and it was very dry. Sad to say we will probably never go back. He was nice enough to not charge us for our meal.
The Farmer’s Breakfast was great. Good coffee too. The other menu items I saw coming out from the kitchen looked great and will bring me back to try them.
Excellent food and staff. Best pancakes in town! Had dinner Friday and breakfast Saturday. Dave the owner is friendly and he food was too notch
Food 3/5 service 3/5 came here for the first time with coworkers for lunch. Waitress seemed grumpy and food came out extremely slow. I ordered the braised short rib sandwich. It came out on a crunchy, toasted baguette with pickled onions, radicchio and radish. The pulled meat was pretty bland and needs more seasoning. It was not what I was expecting. The roasted potato wedges was soft and seasoned well. Another table ordered pancakes that looked good. Might have to go back again to try something else.
Food is fantastic. On par with everything in the area including 17th Ave. Prices are very reasonable, almost cheap. Champagne on a beer budget. Also, this app sucks. I’m now writing to comply with their 140 character minimum.
