Best espresso in East Village. Sterile aesthetic, that needs some more plant life IMO, but its probably advantageous for them as it wards people staying too long. I had a sandwich and matcha pastry, both were excellent and the portion size on point!

All the rolls were $5 each, choux were $2.50 and the lemon meringue tart $5. Everything looked so good, I decide on the matcha roll cake. It was soft and moist and the matcha cream was nice and not too sweet. I really enjoyed it.

Came here for quick bite at 11am, though I recommend to come closer to noon, they will have more baked goods by that time. Tried their pretzel sandwich, coconut pastry, and this butter chocolate bun. Their sweet stuff is quite delicious. Seating is quite limited, very nice interior, and plenty of street parking on weekends. The owners are very nice

It’s a little cake shop/ bakery in East village. Pro: pastry, flavor, so good!Con: None!I feel like I finally met French style pastry shop in Yyc! Mari bake shop is so good, their choux is must try! It’s been a little disappointing about cake & pastry category in Yyc. It is so sad to see so many coffee shop here but none of them have decent quality cake/pastery. I mean, I like North American style sweet butter cream with heavy and moist sponge cake too. But I have been wanting to try French/Europe style pastries. And when I had choux from Mari, I was very glad. Their choux comes with different flavors, I have tried chocolate, raspberry??, lemon, and so on…the cream was all so delicate and great flavor. The choux it self is biscuit shell type with a plate of chocolate on top. It is tiny but so good!!I have tried roll cake as well. The cream is so good! Also, I love their baguette. It’s decent. I have never tried pretzel. I would love to try next time!Overall, I love their food!

I love Mari bakeshop. I have been 4 times since they opened a month ago. Cream puffs – SO GOOD! full of flavour. Crispy top (sorta like a Chinese pineapple bun) unlike the cream puffs you get at Costco (I feel bad comparing Mari cream puffs to Costco). Light…. you’ll forget that you ate a few tablespoons of whipped cream-like filling. My favourite flavour is probably the raspberry made with real raspberries but they are all freaking amazing. FYI: The coffee one has a really strong coffee flavour and is the least sweet of them. Just be aware in case you are expecting a faint flavour of coffee. Swiss roll cakes – I only had it once and it was the mint chocolate. The cake was airy and moist. The whipped cream had great flavour like their cream puffs. They are well executed Swiss rolls. Tarts – get the tarts! The crust is thin and crispy which provides a nice texture and contrast to the fillings. The tarts are not too sweet. I’ve had both the chocolate with caramel and raspberry(strawberry? Can’t remember) dome with a lemon curd. Both were amazing. I feel like the secret is in their delicious crust. Bread – tbh their cheese pretzel was aight. I wouldn’t get it again. It was but too dense for my own liking. I’ve had their other bread tho. I like that their crust is crispy but not thick. The inside of their bread is airy and moist but not dense. I find that with some bakery artisan breads, their crust is so thick and hard it kind of hurts/gets tiring to chew. But Mari really nailed it. Their bread also has a nice nutty flavour. Seating – it’s a bit cramped but they have a number of tables. Prob not the best for large groups. But a good study spot!

Nice little bakery selling roll cakes, choux pastures and baguettes. The roll cakes are light and fluffy. My favorite flavors are strawberry lime and matcha. The matcha choux is delightful filled with matcha cream. They have a few tables if you wish to dine in. Definitely worth checking out.
