The decor was amazing and the place smelled like fresh bread. We got a spot on the patio which was beautiful and we were surrounded by plants- very serene. The servers were on top of their game ensuring we were taken care of. I ordered the duck breast and it was amazing. I do wish it was a little more food on the plate but I was also satisfied with the breadsticks and fresh bread brought to my table. I will definitely be back for a dinner date for this elegant gem.

Had an amazing lunch at Bonterra today. Started with the Salmone Crudo (salmon tartar) to share, very well presented and prepared, would have it again. Moved onto the Barbabietole (beet and feta salad), then ended sharing a Linguine Carbonara. Worth a visit, parking can be a drag, but worth the trial.

Chef Ben Mills is in the house folks! Bonterra needs a swear jar. I’ve never sworn so much during a meal. This is F’@#n delicious! Wow…what’d they F@#’n do? Holy F@#$!The descriptions on the menu REALLY undersell the dishes. Go. Eat. Have a beautiful evening. Just save me a table.

We had a early reservation for Valentines Day and it was our first time visiting bonterra. I really liked the interior and it was much bigger than I expected and a really romantic/candlelight setting. We shared the arancini for $10 which was good, but very small. I decided on the full size beef cheek penne and R had the pork dish. R enjoyed the pork more than I did my pasta, it was good but definitely not worth the $26. There were small bits of beef and the pasta was a little too firm for my liking. For a shared appetizer and 2 entrees with no dessert/drinks, our bill was $71 which I found to be high. The service was fantastic and I would recommend Bonterra if you’re looking to try Italian but just be prepared to pay a little more.

My partner and I went there for a vday dinner. The food was amazing. I would’ve given a 5 but the service was just horrible. We had a late dinner reservation, it was busy but not crazy busy… We probably saw the waitress around 4 times in total (when we came in, few times when she dropped the food off and when we paid). It may just have been a busy day which could’ve effected the service… It’s worth giving another shot but the service was a bit disappointing

Bonterra certainly is among the top choices for an Italian setting in Calgary. They do a lot of things very well, which makes them good; but they don’t do any one thing very well, which would make them memorable. It’s a place where you would say that you’ve tried when it comes up in conversation, but not necessarily a place in which you would lead a conversation.
