AMAZING FOOD AMAZING STAFF I used the Chick Pea to cater an office meeting recently and everything was fantastic. Will definitely be using them again
Another underwhelming beef donair served by a guy who doesn’t care and can’t remember if I ordered chicken or not. Skimpy on sauce. $9 for a regular donair it was salt. If you don’t put the sweet sauce on its way too salty
I’ve been going here for 10 years… And never tried their falafel salad until now. If any of you know me, I don’t eat meat and this has only been recent. It’s small interior is nothing fancy. You can find tables for a quick bite or sit along the windows. The newer owners are nice, maybe not as friendly as the originals. The chicken shawarma was my favourite when I are chicken. Always delicious. This time I settled with their falafel and it was still moist and not dry. This place gets busy at the noon hour, usually before and after 1:30 you don’t have to wait as long. Always a favourite of mine.
Finally came here for a lunch wrap. A donair shop on the ground floor of an older downtown office building. Interior was spartan. Had seating for about 30 diners. Tried the donair (beef) wrap ($9). There was a set of roasters, but the served beef was pre-sliced, and kept warm. You choose the type and amount of sauces (garlic, chili and sweet) and vegetables (hummus, parsley, pickled cabbage – neon pink, lettuce, tomato, onion, olives, pickles, cucumber) for the wrap. I couldn’t walk past the baklava without trying one ($1.25) and 2 falafels (@$1) a la carte. The donair was a flavourful and salty, but OK with all the veggies in the wrap. The bakalva was good, but I suspect it used corn syrup instead of honey. The falafels were crisp and full sized, but too salty for my taste. It had a fair kick of spicy flavour too. May be better in a wrap with veggies. Overall the wrap was tasted good and was good value, better priced than most food trucks.I would return.
The shwarma is awesome. However, try to be here a bit early if you’re coming for lunch as it’s a busy restaurant. I’m only giving it a 2 cuz the service is really bad when the owner or his family isn’t around. The employees just kept talking to each other and joking and in the process, screwed up my chicken shwarma. Thanks guys. I’ll definitely NOT be back.
Great place, nice and cozy, food is excellent, service is great. I personally loved the chicken shawarma, makes you feel you’re back in the old country.
My favorite go to place for donairs at lunch. Decent price, super tasty. Really can’t go wrong. Should definitely try the beef donair with cheese!
