Friendly staff. Loved the life sketch comedy from ADHD sketch group. The pizza was great and a wicked price. We really looked forward to having he fry bar- unfortunately we were a bit underwhelmed – I would order again but would be sure to ask for extra seasoning – as we really just got plain fries. Definitely a place to recommend. Good food. Cheap price !
Great live music venue. Food is ambitious but needs work. I enjoy going to shows here, and although the menu looks great it needs some work in the execution. Soggy fries, batter not sticking to deep fried pickles, oh and they don’t have debit so bring cash.
After stoping a few Calgarians to ask where the Dickin’s pub was we finally found it, seemed quiet from the door but that’s cos it’s a basement pub, upon walking in we were presented with a Darkness cover, Justin Hawkins must be turning in his grave, on the plus side after 2 dollars I finally got a ‘bag in a hole’. Top Lad.
Best Venue. One of the best venues in Calgary to see live music, sound is awesome, with a very intimate atmosphere, couple that with the great food specials, especially Saturday’s PIZZA night (pizza is pretty good for 7 bucks).
I love the Dickens out of this place!!. You don’t go to dine like debonaires ya bunch of knobs! You attend performances. Musical outfits and maybe a down a beer or two. This place has a positive comforting vibe, a relaxed atmosphere…I didn’t feel on edge ONCE. Had a beer it was nice and cold…don’t expect premium service just go to some punk and/or goth/metal shows and have fun! Oh. Well. One minor gripe though…they said the doors would open at 8 aaaannd….they were? But we couldn’t go in cause bands were rehearsing still? But it was worth it. Big babies.
Nothing worse then your table of four getting the boot at 9:30pm (with 10 mins left in the hockey game) on a Friday because you don’t want to blow $20 each on some random techno DJ. Thanks for waiting until our bill was already past $100 to inform us… Service(Server) was actually good, probably the only positive. Food was just fair, even for a pub. Management should reconsider their rediculas strategy of turning away real paying customers for the flavor of the week. My advice, go somewhere else…
Supports local independent music!. I like the fact that weekend venues include Calgarian musicians, but other than that, the ambience and service is average.I didn’t eat anything here, but my friends ordered chicken wings and they looked like anorexic wings to me!
