Great prices for great food! The portions are massive (as you can tell from the picture, that isn’t a small packet of noodles but merely a huge pot!) for a reasonable price and we didn’t have to wait too long to be served. The staff are also very friendly and answered any questions we had about recommendations and serving size. Glad I found another place that is actually open past 5 PM on the weekend in Downtown Calgary!
Great little restaurant that opened for lunch now (last 2 months). The pork bone soup I had was quite good in portion and taste for $14.99. My friend had the kimchi udon ($9.99), which she loved and finished all. A good option for downtown lunch! 🙂
My boyfriend and I ordered kimchi soup, beef short ribs and rice. The soup was delicious and so were the short ribs but I was disappointed for how much it is. $25 for a small plate of short ribs is a little absurd to me. Our server wasn’t the best and I truly believe service makes a world of a difference. When we first came in, she didn’t greet us. It felt unwelcoming and awkward. When we went to pay, she did NOT even thank us even though she looked the receipt as it printed out to hand it to us and I even tipped her. I can’t stand people that have no appreciation. She didn’t even deserve any to be quite honest but I always feel obligated to because I understand the hard work it takes to be a server.
I love this restaurant so much. We had the spicy grilled chicken for 2. The food come raw in a pot, so you need to cook it yourself. The noodle on top will stick to the bottom,so when you are frying or yourself you might not want to get the noodle to the bottom so soon. However the food taste so great, we finished it so fast once it cooked we don’t even have time to take a picture! It was by far the best Korean restaurant! We place an extra order on the spicy soft tofu stew because the stir fry just tasted so great. The spicy tofu stew is simply just great! The soup is so fresh and so flavourable! The squid is a little tough for my liking and not much seafood in the pot. But believe me the tofu and the both tasted so good. That it is all wroth it. The waitress is so friendly that she gave us an extra kimchi on the side, normally i am not a big kimchi fan, but I loved it! She is patient in explaining things to us and come back to take our order in a very timely manner! I will come back with a group of people and recommend all my friends and family to come to this place if they ever come to Calgary! Too bad I live in Saskatoon, otherwise it will probably be one of the place I will frequent!
Not bad for average quality Korean food. I feel like you can get better gamjatang in the city, since they don’t even put potatoes in the soup anymore. It’s kind of pricy but it’s a good place for a drink with friends!
Don day is more of a pub than a restaurant. They have the best gamjatang. I like how their atmosphere feels like you are actually in korea. Only down side about this place is that you will smell like bbq after eating here.
Tucked away in a tiny hole in the way, this Korean restaurant stays true to its roots with a traditionally inspired menu. The atmosphere is reminiscent of old school Seoul, and the food is authentic to its core. Their key menu item though, would definitely have to be the pork bone soup, with built in burners at each table designed to make it a home cooked experience. Definitely worth a try for those Korean food lovers.
