Very nice looking restaurant!! Its a shame its not busier. Came on a Wednesday night and there were probably only three tables altogether during my duration there. That being said, spending three hours while it wasnt busy was a bit annoying. Service was attentive at first but after getting our entrees the server was more interested in closing down the dining room than getting our desserts and bill. Food was pretty good, the bone marrow butter was amazing! Such a simple pleasure haha.
Oxbow is located inside the Kensington Riverside Inn right across from Julios. First off I came in here with low expectations and was presently surprised. The restaurant was quiet which is nice for a change with a modern decor inside. I ordered the Alberta Hangar Steak which was beautifully done (medium rare – recommended by the server). The steak had a nice crust on the outside (well seasoned) and flavorful. The came with a side of Brussels sprouts and potatoes (smoky taste) which complimented the dish. We sat from across the kitchen where we could see a couple chefs cooking out meal to perfection (amazing job!). For dessert I indulged myself with their carrot cake which was topped off with caramel popcorn and a cheesecake dipping sauce. I would recommend giving this place a try.
This is the restaurant of the Riverside Inn in Kensington. Very nicely appointed, upscale interior with a moderately priced menu. We enjoyed a Sunday brunch. Eggs Benny with salmon was excellent. Spouse’s three cheese omlet was reportedly satisfying too. Coffee was excellent. Enjoyed visiting with our Belgian waiter, who has made Calgary home.
