Pumpkin spice muffins. Not a fan of the pumpkin spice muffins, dry and stale.
COFFEE SHOP GOING DOWNHILL. I am a regular at this shop. The service and coffee has really gone downhill in the past few months. Not sure what the problem is, but they had better fix is fast.
Employee was rude and refused to serve coffee even though they didn’t close for 10 minutes. Won’t go to any Second Cup if that’s their policy. Dhod state on door – close at 9:50
Acoustically Challenged. I thank the Running Room crowd for helping me discover The Roasterie. I used to be a Second Cup devotee, but then the Running Room crowd would descend upon the Second Cup. With the hard, acoustically unfriendly cookie-cutter decor, two or three Running Room runners would make more noise than a dozen other patrons combined. I wanted a peaceful cup of coffee, but peace was not to be found there. I experimented with other coffee shops, discovered The Roasterie just down the street, and haven’t been in the Second Cup in years; though I did go in periodically to get one of their date squares, which are quite tasty, and then take it to The Roasterie for my coffee. The Roasterie may not be defined as peaceful, but it’s not am obnoxious noise created by a few caffeinated, adrenalin-pumped-up runners.
I work at this location currently, I’m the chubby blonde one with a bit of green at the end of my hair and really blue eyes hahahaha 😀 I love this store, I love the people and I LOVE the regular customers!! I used to work at a Starbucks in okotoks (shhhhhh, I didn’t tell you that!) and I really really prefer second cup. I mean, Starbucks was great and all. I got a 30% discount whereas here I get 20%, and we used to get ‘weekly mark outs’ meaning we could take home a bag of coffee or a box of tea free of charge. But the atmosphere is horrible, I was always on drive thru and EVERY DAY all I ever did was run around! I was so busy answering calls running the till and making drinks all at the same time I never had a chance to connect with the costumers like I do here 🙂 I love having the opportunity to slow things down, to listen to your stories and to do what I love doing the most! Making wonderful drinks for people. I’ll admit, I’m not perfect at lat art quite yet, but I’m getting there! I love the people I work with. Well, some of them. I’m not perfect, I will admit that I’m not a big fan of one of the other girls that works with me. She makes me feel brand new to the job even though I try my hardest. I’ve worked at coffee shops for over a year now, I’m not brand new to it but sometime she makes me feel like that :/ but still she is interesting to work with 🙂 thanks for reading! Pop by Kensington Second Cup!
Great Place. Since moving to Kensington this place has become a regular (morning) favourite for me. The morning staff are really sweet and friendly and remember what I get. The blonde girl who works in the afternoon/evenings seems to hate her life and her job, so I’d advise going in the morning where you’ll have a way better experience. Their tiramisu is incredible, along with their lattes.
Dec. 27th 2011 The most rude blonde girl at the till. hardly even acknowledged me. Incredible how little pride or care she had for herself or her job.
