The Candy Kid if filled with Cranky Owners. This place has alot to offer slightly over priced. I do not like going here simply because i have seen the owners and managers not treat there staff very well. Very abusive to them and a huge turn over due to the little respect they have for there staff.
New management?. I used to come here to study as I found the space peaceful with a good selection of black teas and candy. Last time I went in, the staff (a blonde girl with an arm tattoo) was disruptive and loud. She spoke over me when i asked her questions in an attempt to sell me things, and her conversations with others bordered on inappropriate. The music was playing too loud, so I headed across the street.
Warm inviting staff, friendly atmosphere, but …. There are 2 candy stores in Kensington (that I know of) that are relatively close together, we wandered into one of them (Gummi) and this one, Candy Kid.The staff is absolutely friendly and helpful, I felt very welcomed in there. The day we went, they also had the author of a kid’s book signing autographs, plus the kids got to take the book home free. This place has a little bit of everything for everyone, candy, tea, and an area for the kids. Just a minor things, the selection of candy isn’t as good as Gummi. At Gummi, it brought back many good memories that I have as a kid, eating candy and at Gummi you’re inundated with many brands of candy from yesteryear. Unfortunately, Candy Kid doesn’t stock those childhood type of memory candies.Overall though, the warm friendly staff is worth the trip.
