They definitely have the location thing going for them. Right in the middle of Eau Claire, historic building, great patio for people watching. For the typical pub food though, I find it to be a tad pricey. We tried the mussels, calamari, and Yorkshire pudding. All were decent but the mussels were very good! We had beer/wine as well and again, good selection but too pricey. The service was nice and prompt! Not a bad choice if you’re in the area and just want typical appies and some drinks!
We’ve been down here a couple of times now and the place has never disappointed. It’s usually a bit more of a quiet pub too so you can usually get a spot on the patio during summer. While we’ve never eaten a full meal here before, the appetizers are good (if not a bit expensive). The servers have always been friendly too. Finally, the decor and location of this place is great! It’s right near the Bow River so you can stop by for a pint on a nice summers day after walking along the river. It’s a great rustic building too. We’ll be back again here for sure.
I ate here once and did not care for their mac and cheese. It was tasteless. I added salt and pepper, but that did not help. Others seemed to enjoy their food more so I guess it depends what you order. They serve standard pub food
Came here on a Friday afternoon not busy food came out quickly, only got nachos since it was too big to finished cheese tasted off. Service was bad considering it wasn’t busy at all. Won’t be coming back.
Decent atmosphere and food. Great location within the city as well. Service was slow and restaurant can be very crowded at times or be used for private events. Average at best.
Came here on a Saturday afternoon and waited for the patio as they open at 1pm. We had 6 adults and 3 kids and were the first to be seated and ordered. Yet, we were the last to receive our food… When the food finally came though, I was impressed with their turkey sandwich that has Brie, strawberry and some veggies. The steak sandwich was mediocre. I really get annoyed when I often order my steaks med rare and they hardly ever come med rare (more so because it’s left under the heat lamp for too long I assume). Anyway, the soup was pretty good, crab, Guinness stout cream soup.
hmmmm barley mill. I finally went there after always walking past the place whenever im at eau claire or going to Joeys. I have to say i wasn’t the most pleased with this place. our service was pretty slow. My girlfriend and I were there for a birthday party and did the food just take its time out. We ordered a simple chicken wrap. I was hungry and by the time it came out, I was way passed hungry.I ate a bit of the wrap and had my drink. My girlfriend was not happy either.
