Pathetic Banana Splits, Terrible Service. Today my husband and I stopped at Froshberg Gelato in the CORE shopping centre in downtown Calgary for what we thought would be a special treat…we should not have wasted our time or money!We ordered a banana spilt to share, which the menu depicted as having lots of gelato, whipped cream and toppings like nuts/cherries. We thought it would justify the price (just over $7). What we got was completely different and quite pathetic. Imagine what you would expect a typical scoop of gelato to look like – each of the three scoops was half of that. Then the lady at the counter topped this tiny amount of gelato with a bruised and disgusting banana…we had to actually ask her to cut away the large bruised areas (she acted like she didn’t notice). The ‘whipped cream’ on top was a beige watery substance which was squeezed out of what looked like a large toothpaste tube. The lady did not put on any toppings, and when we pointed out that the menu pictured nuts/cherries on top, she shrugged and threw on a few pieces of walnut. No cherries. We should have walked away and said forget it. But alas, we paid for it and ate it. Never again!!!

When I arrived it was inside a business building so be ready to wait outside until someone with a key card comes by so you can sneak in with them. When I got inside I came around 11 15, and found the owner’s brother had just arrived to make gelato, not sell. He had only made 2 flavours and had no knowledge about pricing. He felt bad that I drove all the way to downtown that he gave me one for free. It wasn’t a flavour I enjoyed but I appreicate good service. Next time I’ll come at 12 and not order the sickly sweat lemon gelato.
Decent.. Very serviceable food-court gelateria. Crepes too, though I’ve only tried the gelato.
