You’re not going to find any food here that will blow you away, but the environment still carries that same fun experience after all these years. It’s a good deal for the family, but I wouldn’t come to expect to critique the food.
Can’t say I was blown away by the experience but the pasta is good. There is a variety of different sauces you can choose from and a good wine menu. It’s been there for a very long time so I feel like it’s just one of those classics in Eau claire, but I think overall it needs a little bit of a face lift to compete with some of the more unique locations in calgary.
Food is good, but I think the restaurant itself needs a facelift. I feel like it’s been the same for so long that people just forget that it exists! The saving grace is that the service and the food is alright!
Came here on Friday night last week with a group of 7. They had no problem finding us a table. The service was fantastic considering how much our waitress had to run back an forth with bread, salad, mains, desserts and teas for everyone. We always feel sorry for these poor guys! We’ve eaten here so so so many times we’ve lost count, both at the Banff Spaghetti factory and the Calgary one. Both are virtually indistinguishable from one another. We have two real favourites here – either the red thai prawn linguine, or the manager’s special – we go for a combo of the spicy meat sauce and the mizithra cheese (basically creating spag bol with cheese). The food isn’t haute cuisine but it’s a big crowd pleaser.Salad is always great – thousand island sauce is the best by a mile.Ice cream – spimone wins every time!Love this place – food is always fantastic and unbelievably well priced. The staff are always super friendly at the downtown branch and we always enjoy ourselves there. Great for big groups and for when you want some no frills dinner and are super hungry! Will definitely be back again! eliteyyc.com
Ordered some spaghetti that had a little too much garlic for my taste, but I shouldve expected it because it said it was a garlic marinara sauce. Good atmosphere and received a complimentary little bowl of ice cream that tasted a bit like toothpaste.
This casual restaurant is great for families and anyone looking for an easy pasta meal between $12 and $15. There are other pastas than just the spaghetti, but they’re not really what you come here for. There are about eight choices of spaghetti sauces you can choose from with options to mix and match most of them. The meat sauces are nice and heavy with chunky bits and the clam sauce is quite nice being thick, creamy and full of clam in each bite. Either of those are good but I usually spend my money on the Brown Butter and Mizithra Cheese sauce. It doesn’t sound like anything but the savoury and salty mix of butter and chess use so satisfying.I don’t go here very often unless I’m in Eau Claire looking for a hearty meal or I want to find a casual spot downtown for a big group. It’s been a reliable place, not always the most impressive meal, but it’s a good deal with the pastas coming with a soup or salad and ice cream dessert. Like any chain restaurant it runs pretty smoothly based on the servers it has at any time, for the only Calgary location it’s been open for decades and still survive for being a well-known reliable meal.
I had a terrible experience with the food here. After trying the Old Spaghetti Factory in West Edmonton Mall I thought I’d give the one in Calgary a try with a friend. Unfortunately I was disappointed. Both our spaghetti dishes were extremely watery. Makes me wonder how these plates were allowed to leave the kitchen. Not worth the money here.
